Lovely street by the beach. Best way to head towards the old town. Worth spending a few hours when visiting the city of Nice

The Quai is a great place to walk and see the older grand hotels of Nice. In fact you can walk for several miles along the older beachfront of the city and enjoy lots of sight seeing.

I love walking along the quai to the port. In the port you can taste local specialities in numerous cafés

This quai showed me very little. It has a few restaurants and is part of the Promenade des Anglais (the very end of the promenade just before you get to the "I Love Nice" structure at the foot of the mountain). What's nice about it is the little market which is behind it in the Old Nice city area. That's worth a visit!

Quai des Etats Unis -- the road and walkway that follow Nice's eastern beaches between Promenade des Anglais and Quai de Rauba Capeau -- carries much vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It runs parallel to and just south of Cours Saleya, a main street in Old Town. Many restaurants, shops and bars stand by the quai across the street from the sea. During our one-week stay in this section of the city, we found it extremely convenient to get to the quai, where we would walk by the water or simply take an early morning stroll above, on the wide sidewalk. .
The quai also provided us access to the hundreds of steps up Castle Hill, which offers photo ops for stunning views. Few people walked along the quai during weekdays in December but that changed on the weekend. The area became mobbed with cyclists, strollers, runners and dog walkers.
The name of the quai changed in 1917 to honor the United States for joining the Allies in WWI that year. In addition, the walkway displays a 4.3-feet-high replica of New York City's famous Statue of Liberty, a gift to the United States from the people of France. This small version is one of many made by sculptor Frederic Bartholdi before undertaking the final project.

If you did not know the name of the quai, you might miss the miniature "Statue of Liberty" that marks this area of the promenade. It is along the beach, and a beautiful stroll from the major hotels to the harbor and old town. Lots of good restaurants along the quai, and interesting areas that explain the history of Nice. Great way to see the town (and beach-goers).

A wide path next to the road for walkers and bikes.
Palm trees give a little shade.

An extension of the Promenade Des Anglais, this toward the mountain and the port. There is a commemoration of the peace treaty for WWI and a statue of Woodrow Wilson. Lovely views of the sea and the beach.

The sea is blue and the sky is usually sunny so what is bad about the beach side promenade in Nice; not a whole lot. There is no sand and it is all pebbles and the best areas are covered with pay for use deck chairs. Take a walk along the Promenade Des Anglais, look at some of th unusual art and monuments and enjoy . It is Nice.

Walking beside the Med and suddenly coming upon a copy of the Statue of Liberty was a welcomed and pleasant surprise. Watch for it when you're in the vicinity...especially if you're American.
