Arrived in Marseille and decided to get our bearings. We found the port ( easy downhill) and then saw the top of the Basillica a HARD walk uphill. We all managed it but it was hard walk but worth it for the stunning views and...More

Rode the little train from the Vieux Port along the coastline and then up the mountain to this basilica. Best part was the spectacular view of all of Marseille and the islands. Quite impressive!

It is the best location to be seen from every vantage point in the city, so it offers the best views of the city. Driving back from Aix-en-Provence it can be seen silhouetted in the sky, from 5 or so KM away. The drive up...More

Many decks to view the sea and the city of Marseille. The church is beautiful inside from the floor to the ceiling. We hiked up the hill so we got our daily exercise too!

Beautifully decorated church. My french isn't top notch but as I understand it the church is dedicated to Our Lady the Protector. Lots of the displays and plaques inside are for people who were saved from various natural disasters and the like. The decoration especially...More

Lovely church set high above the city with sensational views. Impressive basillica with many armed guards as there is in most of the tourist destinations of Europe. Worth the trouble and the traffic conditions

We travelled to this whilst on an ebike tour of Marseille. It was great fun. The Notre Dame is absolutely breathtaking inside and out. Well worth the effort. Awesome. Highly recommended.

Yes, you can drive all the way to the building. On the way up you will see a few levels of parking, just continue to the bldg unless you are in yhe mood for a steep hike.

We saw a lot of coaches for organised tours. Not sure how close parking is for cars as we visited using e-bikes which was great fun and so much easier than walking! Enjoy.

You can take the bus 60 from the old port until the Terminus, which is right at the entrance of the church for 1,50 Euro.
