L'Esperantine de Marseille offers a beautiful array of chocolates that are prepared with olive oil. What sets these chocolates apart are two things: they are exceptionally smooth and creamy, even the darker chocolates. Also: you can tell there's olive oil. It's not overwhelming but it's there and depending on how much tu adores l'huile d'olive, this may/may not be an issue for you. Pour moi, l'huile d'olive n'est pas necessaire.
But, talk a walk through the store, try a sample and maybe you'll think otherwise.

L’Esperantine is a boutique chocolatier nearby Les Halles that is famous for their olive oil chocolate.
Their signature olive oil green chocolate is filled with orange peels and other goodies. The selling point that it their chocolate contains a lot less fat and is much healthier for you since they use olive oil instead of butter or any other fat.
The chocolate is actually smoother because they use olive oil! They also have an abundance of other products, including olive oil chocolate spread and whole chocolate bars. They’re super friendly at the store and very helpful – you can pretty much try anything you want before you buy it. This was a huge point for me because I hate buying things that I’m not sure about how they taste. It really helped us decide which products we wanted to bring home – I think probably spent over 100€ in this store alone!
I highly recommend L’Esperantine – I’m still hoarding the chocolate at home because I don’t want it to all get eaten!

This Chocolate shop was recommended and we were not disappointed. Walking into this wonderful Chocolate shop and greeted by the most pleasant proprietor was a treat upon itself. The aroma filled the air and we were offered an array of chocolates to taste. The shop also boasted wonderful fresh squeezed lemonade. It complimented the flavors we were enjoying. L'Esperantine de Marseille was created in 1999 for Marseille's 26th centenary. And in 2000 it received its first "Cordon Bleu" award as the best confectionery of the year in Paris. Their award winning chocolates are made with Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You cannot help but induge and purchase some of the best chocolate in France. We purchased " les Croquants" , chocolate with almonds and beautifully created. We also purchased " l'Esperantine" a georgeous collectors tin filled with olive oul chocolates in the shape of Olive tree leaves in the color of green and accented with chocolate olives . Heaven !!! It was hot that day so we bought for 2Euros a insulated chocolate bag to keep our chocolate from melting. Excellent idea. This shop is absolutely charming and so is the hostess.

While visiting Marseille, we took a Tuk Tuk tour and our wonderful driver made a stop at L’ESPERANTINE, a beautiful chocaleterie, we were greated by Marion who treated us to 6 different types of sweets samples, lemonade and ice cream, we where in heaven, never tasted sweets with orange blossom or lavender flavors before. I will always remember Marseille and L’ESPERANTINE.
Merci Marion!!!

We first visited this store at their kiosk in the Christmas market on Vieux-Port when their employee called out to me and offered me a sample of chocolate. That was all it took! We went back the next day and bought a box of the dark chocolate with olive oil, then went to their store on the last day of our trip and bought more chocolate for gifts. The employee at the store was very nice, offering us tons of free samples to help us decide what to buy!

The manager was really nice, gentle, and informative. She offered us samples as we walked through the store. Their olives are from South of France (1 hour from Marseille), and they use olive oil in their chocolates instead of milk products. We ended up getting almonds covered with chocolates. Would recommend to anyone who likes chocolates.

I visited the chocolate shop on 09/11 while in Marseille and sampled almost everything in the shop before making my selections. The chocolate is amazing and the fact that it has olive oil does not in any way impact the taste nor texture. My husband and I were in the shop for an hour tasting and talking with the Manager about how it is made. I highly recommend if you are in Marseille stop by their shop....if you are a chocolate lover, you will not be disappointed.

If you think chocolate and olive oil don't mix, think again. Even if you can't be convinced in concept, a sample from one their friendly staff will change your mind! Like nothing you've eaten before, it tastes amazing (particularly the ones with the orange inside)

Muriel bonjour.
Cordialement. Francesco Martorana.
