As usual nothing is done to make this a pleasant experience and the staff are really not very nice...

We stayed in Argentiere (up the valley from Chamonix) and the balcony of our Hotel Le Dahu faced this mountain. A good start. We took the chairs to the top and, while warm in Argentiere inJuly, we were happy we had winter gear because it was close to freezing up there. But worth it. The views were magnificent. So magnificent... More

Argentiere is at one end of the Chamonix valley and therefore a little away from the main town and population. This is a plus as we did not need to queue. The views from the top are stunning, like much of the Chamonix area. The Argentiere glacier and the Grand Montets are impressive sights and of course you are able... More

This was our favourite lift in the Chamonix valley as you can actually get out and walk in the snow. We took hats and gloves but neither were needed as the sun was so strong. We didn't hike from here as we didn't have the correct equipment but it was nevertheless a memorable experience.

We went up this mountain a few days ago, with the intention of taking the children to the snow garden. On our way up we read that some works on the banister were taking place. When we arrived we started going down the steps to get to the snow but the last part of the stairs had no proper banister... More

Les Grands Montets is one of my favourite places in Chmonix Valley, the views are amazing on a clear day. There is a cafe at top lift and restaurant at mid lift, but I like to take a picnic and watch the climbers on the glacier.

Just along from Chamonix is Argentieres and the cable car to The Grand Montets. A lot cheaper than the Aguille du Midi, less crowds in fact no crowds on our Car and it was peak summer mid August. Astonishing views. Heighly recommended just amazing .

Great views from the top - walked back down to Argentiere - plenty of hiking routes. It's a pretty steep walk back down and worth it.

We had not planned the visit to Les Grands Montets and it was a great surprise to go to the top in July and experience the snow, as well as the great views of the Alps. Bring warm clothes with you even during the summer.
