We are recent U.S. transplants to Annecy and were excited to find some nearby kid friendly activities. I'm not sure how this worked, but for my 5 year old, 2 year old and I, the museum cost us 3 Euros. Such a steal! We zoomed through it (because of said 5 and 2 year olds) in an hour. If I were by myself, I would have happily spent an extra hour there. Impressive taxidermy, rock and insect sections! A lot of the quartz, etc seemed to be from the region or neighboring region. There is a very small, interactive area for children and it was my daughters favorite part. This museum is small, but for the low price and the idea of instilling a love of nature in my children it was perfect.

This museum closed for lunch which was not on the website and there were kids running around every where.

There was not a lot to see although the staff member was polite.

It was a small museum. I preferred the gardens surrounding the museum than the museum itself !

The entry to the museum is a little confusing, with no ticket prices or entry information displayed. I also did not know that an audioguide (presumably in French only) was available until I was inside and saw the logos and prompts on displays.
The displays are written in nearly only French, so if you don't have a basic grasp of the language then you may not get as much out of it. The displays are quite aged, and the building itself is beautifully old.
It's relatively small, so can be walked through in just a couple hours. It is closed for lunch.

Unfortunately we've been to a few wonderful natural history museums and this one just could not live up to expectations. We did not spend more than 15 minutes there. It is a very basic, old fashioned museum with a few stuffed animals standing in a row behind glass. Not much explaination and no creative backdrops. Woman at the front desk was also rather unwelcoming. She told us we could only stay there for one hour (it was in the morning so I don't think it was because it was closing time). It is okay but I would not recommend it.

The museum is located in an old, but a bit noisy building. The collection is not super big so a visit doesn't have to take more than 2 hours. Audioguides in english are available for 1.5 euro.

Nice for kids on a rainy day, but nothing too special. Some exhibits seem a little "old" and the building could stand to be renovated.

I was expecting, from some of the reviews, a rather tatty museum with lots of old stuffed animals. In fact it is well kept, excellently lit and has a quaint feel about it. The gardens are lovely as well. If you know London's Natural History Museum then think of this as a small town version. I would say it is great for all ages but I did not see any lifts. Since we returned to the UK I have found out that there are audio guides but we were not encouraged or offered them which was a shame as everything, as one might expect, is in French.

This museum of natural history is great to learn more about the Isere region. They have stuffed animals and birds that inhabit the region, and also a collection of minerals.
