There was a retrospective of Vasily Kandinsky and it was amazing. you do not expect such a great show in a small town like Grenoble and it was a great surprise. In total, the museum was good and if you are in town, it is a must visit.

Very interesting, especially the more modern art. Got some unusual work from very well known artists. Great way to pass an afternoon.

The museum of Grenoble is one of the best French museums for paintings outside of Paris. Good collection, modern, good light, a lot of space, a "feel good" place. I find the first half of XX century collection the most interesting.

One wouldn't expect a relatively small ton to have such an extensive collection, ranging from the Italian Renaissance to the Ultra Contemporary. But the Musée de Grenoble is precisely that. Tons of important works from all sorts of periods.

A must see for any stop over in Grenoble, the Musée de Grenoble was actually one of the first modern art museums in France. André Farcy was an early collector of contemporary art in France, and many of the works in the 20th-century collection were personal gifts from friends/artists. The modern collection is large and vast in scope with a... More

Art watching and people watching. Nice building and extensive collection. Wish it had been open on Tuesday the day it rained solidly all day long.

Wonderful museum. A good permanent collection of modern art and some good exhibits from time to time. Great place for a rainy day.

Parking is tricky and expensive nearby although free on Sundays, Public Holidays and during the lunch two hours - it could only be France. Not easy to access, long flight of stairs, apparently there is a life but we did not find out how to access it. Something for everybody, galleries of paintings, all the usual museum expectations, shop and... More

When I was last in Grenoble the art museum was an inadequate building. In 1994 the new museum opened in a fabulous building that offers room for the collection to grow. Not that it's small. The pre-1900 collection contains some very nice works, but the post-1900 collection makes this museum special. A number of Matisses set the tone, but there... More
