In the south of France you cannot miss le Vieux Lyon, it can justify your visit to the city of Lyon, which prides itself of this unique area, dating back to the Middle Age Renaissance, same as Venice Italy. It is a whole quarter of the city, with picturesque Renaissance houses, each of which can be very interesting in its... More

Loved the medieval streets and quaint narrow passageways (traboules). Excellent shops for pastries, artisan liqueurs, etc. - -we found nice gifts for our grandchildren at Les Jouets des Anges, 68 Rue St.-Jean. And there are a number of good bouchons (local bistros). Worth spending a few days right here.

I didn't expect this lovely old town when I crossed the bridge intending to see the Basilica . I was attracted to the cobblestone roads, the crowds walking down. the road overshadowed by the old houses. Walking ,very carefully, it was enchanting , with dates in the 1500's it was easy to imagine past families living there. An easy walk... More

Did a free walking tour here, it took about 1,5hours and it was really nice! Even on a sunday all kinds of small boutiques open for tourists and its such a gem. The tourguide took us to see the inneropen places of the buildings.

A lot of history on these streets - and some steep hills to climb. Fascinating glimpse in the medieval history of this remarkable community). Great part of town to stay in as well.

Just get lost in the small streets and traboules (covered passages between one, two or three streets) the architecture goes back to the medievel times. The court yards are just awsome whith snail like stairs and romantic balconies. Old shops and cafe, paved streets, great restaurants (the cuisine lyonnaise is well known in France and Europe)At the end of this... More

Lyon is a huge city and the best and most beautiful part is the old part of the city. I would love to visit again and see more.

My camera was never put down. So beautiful to see. Such yummy food and treats, great shops to visit. Wonderful people. Stay here if you can as it is worth the experience and is an easy walk across the bridge to Lyon.
