Definitely worth a walk here. Such nice people running small shops, chocolatiers, patisseries, and cafes. You can also catch the vernacular from here to the basilica. It was raining when I was there, so I did not go.

We spent much of our time in Lyon in Vieux Lyon. The cobbled streets, sidewalk cafes, patisseries and ice cream shops are everything a lingering tourist could want. There is a beautiful cathedral and a funicular which takes you up to the Roman Amphitheatre in a matter of minutes. The architecture is very pretty and its romantic walking along the... More

I didn't expect this. Being an established city in Europe of course you expect there will be an "old town". I've seen plenty before. But this is as good as I've seen anywhere. If you are ever in Lyon make sure to book a 2 hour walking tour through the old town. A very informative and pleasurable experience. Never heard... More

We visited twice - once on our own and a second time with a tour guide. The second visit gave us so much information and insight into the narrow alleys and traboules (interior alleyways). Our tour guide provided a picture of what it must have been like to live in Vieux Lyon in the heyday of silk production. And secrets... More

Beautiful vieux lyon sweeps you away to the Renaissance with its cobble streets, ocre-colored buildings and traboules

We stayed in the old part of Lyon, which is more attractive than the city's modern center. Cobbled streets and everything...

This historic part of Lyon is a "must do". The cobbled streets and old, old buildings with traboules are full of charm and mystic. Lots of shops to browse and al fresco eateries. I highly recommend spending a couple of hours here.

Lyon has an incredibly well preserved Old Town. Especially recommend one of the guided walking tours you can book at the Tourism Office at Place Bellacore.

Beautiful place to stroll, day or night. I used to live in Lyon and have never tired of visiting this place, great architecture, lots of interesting little shops and full of the typical restaurants of Lyon (known as "bouchons"). Don't miss peering into the old courtyards dotted around

Most interesting part of Lyon with great architecture. Just walk around and don't be afraid to venture to other none touristic areas.
