If you travel to France from the US as we did, why in the world would you find the commercial strip of Lyon an attraction? Stay at home and visit the biggest mall you can find. Almost the same thing, except in Lyon you can walk 2 blocks over to Rue Mercier and find an atmosphere rarely found in the US. So if you find yourself on Republique,(a.k.a. American mall) run don't walk to Rue Mercier. There you will find France.

Lots of things to see on this street. Cafes, restaurants, and places to shop! If you’re wanting new clothes, shoes, or the like, you might very well find it here. Do take note: some of these places appear to have tourist prices! Still, very pretty and quite popular.

If you want to see the historical and cultural sights, then take the hop-on, hop-off bus tour. If you like to shop for some of the finer things in life, then this area has great shops and department stores. We were there in the peak of the end of season sales and we were able to claim some really good bargains at massive savings. (Discounts were being offered from 20% to 70%). It will take at least a day to do justice to the area and remember that shops generally open from 10am to 12 and then from 2pm to 7pm. Beware that many smaller stores will be closed Mondays!

Pleasant street although maybe a little empty. Not so many original shopping, rather international stores, they are all there. Can be a pleasant stroll as there are very few cars.

This seems to be the shopping center in Presq'isle and perhaps Lyon. Very busy, animated in week ends and evenings.

It is a nice touch that the main shopping street in Lyon is a pedestrian walkway. We used this constantly during our visit.

Central street in Lyon. No cars allowed as it's a commercial promenade. Close to the historical Lyon. Worth the visit.

To know whether you need to go here or not, it is really simple. I would recommend if you like shopping, if you like strolling around in a busy street full with people and a vibrant atmosphere, or if you like people watching while sitting around some water fountains. If none of these, this street probably hasn't got much to offer for you. I personally absolutely liked walking through this street, although I didn't really do anything here besides looking around and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. There even was some street animation, but it was a hot weekend day, so this may not be the usual business. The street is also pedestrian-only.

This street had standard chain stores on our with McDonald's on the end by Place Bellrcour. Nothing super special. The two steets to the west are more upscale.

Tous les parkings LPA entre hôtel de ville et Antonin Poncet font laffaire. En bordure de saone (plus à l'Ouest) aussi ça convient, ca ne fait pas trop de marche. Attention, les tarifs ne sont pas tous les mêmes...
