Wonderful ruins to in part walk around. they do still use the amphitheatre for productions. During the light festival it is beautifully lit up. Tis a walk up! Or you can take the feniqular from the base by the edge of the old town

This is a wonderful museum that showcases Lyon's Roman roots. The museum is laid out very logically with clear explanations of all exhibits. But the best part of the visit was the Roman ruins of the amphitheaters themselves. What a wonderful way to spend an...More

We enjoyed walking the ruins of the theater and found it hard to imagine what it was like back when it would seat 10s of thousands of people. If possible plan to visit when there are events in the summer.

Fabulous place, well worth a visit Could do with a bit more signage but overall it’s a very interesting historical site. Add this to a trip to the basilica and you won’t be disappointed

Good to visit, not far from the Basilique. For a walk or jog. Not a very big place but still interesting to see. Take a tram or walk up.

The Romans knew a thing or two about building. The remains of the amphitheatre is indeed impressive, as is the ruins of a smaller theatre on the same site. A visit is highly recommended.

These are some truly amazing ruins of the Roman amphitheaters located atop the hillside overlooking Lyon and the Rhone River. The construction are just a testament to the civil engineering expertise of the Romans. Well worth visiting and exploring these historic ruins.
