I haven't been yet to the renovated stadium to see LOU Rugby, so I can only comment on the football experience. It wasn't in 2016, but 2015, but I can't put an earlier date. It was OL vs Zenith St Petersburg. The best thing about the stadium is the access. it is in the city, accessible by metro and nowadays... More

The stadium is closing to professional football and this was the final match for Olympic Lyon in their old home stadium. It is showing its 70 years but was in good shape. Very easy public transport access. The new stadium is much further out of the city. It was a fun evening. And yes, drinks and such are just as... More

Stade Gerland is a beautiful stadium where you can see one of the biggest European football clubs. We attended the match against Zenit and were a little dissapointed of the performance of the team. But eitherway we loved the team and the supporters. Very beautiful atmosphere.

I was lucky to be in Lyon this last summer to visit this stadium. A friendly game between Olympique Lyonais and AC Milan was a great opportunity to see this stadium from the inside.

Another European stadium which looks more impressive on TV than it actually is in reality. The ground consists of four separate stands, each with what appears to be a moat in front of it. The two ends behind the goals are quite some way from the pitch and the stadium feels like it is past its use by date. The... More

If you want to see one of the best teams in France play, Gerland is the place to go. The tickets are cheap, access is pretty easy with the metro stop named for the stadium, and it's not in a horrible location (compared to most other stadiums I've visited). The ambiance can be pretty good for the big matches, but... More

Whilst in Lyon on business I have enjoyed numerous European football nights at Stade Gerland. Most memorably against Celtic and a 7 - 3 home win.

The stadium is old but well taken after. A new stadium will replace it in the near future. We visited it as Apoel fans, in the biggest movement of fans to Lyon ever! Either for domestic or european games!!! The 5000 Apoel fans were scattered in all 4 stands mixed with another 27000 thousand Lyon fans. Apart from the cold... More
