- PJZimmMilton, Massachusetts198 contributionsRelaxing and Invigorating at the Same TimeAfter my son and I did a morning hike along the PanoramaWeg, this was a nice way to spend the afternoon. My only other experience with thermal waters was in Spain some years back, where we were allotted 15-20 minutes in a shared hot tub. I was puzzled why one would want to spend 2-3 hours, until l entered the pool area. On a beautiful October day (70'sF) and the pool options, 2 hours was not enough . More like a water park, temps were either refreshing or warm. Lots of water features (jets, waterfalls, moving water that you could float along with). Busy as it was, it did not seem too crowded . Chaise lounges were plentiful for relaxing and enjoying the sun . I did use the sauna which stipulates swimsuits were prohibited. While I paused a minute, it didn't stop me. (When in Rome...) Nice selection of saunas with relaxing sounds and aromas . Not too crowded, but nice to get the suit back on again to enjoy the water and the sun before leaving . Really enjoyed this and would strongly recommend.Dear Guest, Dear Guest,Thank you very much for the positive feedback and for taking the time to leave a comment. - Lucy B68 contributionsGreat experienceGreat way to spend a cold winter's day. Especially the outside pool area with hot jacuzzi area and fun whirlpool. The spa is huge with many saunas and experience rooms. We spent an enjoyable few hours here. The food and drink are on the pricey side and I would say the biggest thing that let the spa down was the non existent drinking water facilities. There were no drinking fountains or anywhere you could fill up a water bottle. I found this very strange seeing as the need to regularly drink as it gets very hot in the rooms.Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit to the Caracalla Spa. - travelfairy2000Bad Zurzach, Switzerland112 contributionsWorth going but make sure you have enough timeWe had to wait about an hour to get in. Probably because of the Christmas season and the bad weather. For us all the massage water jets under water were too strong. Otherwise liked the infrared lights above the lounge area were great.Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your recent experience at our spa. We are sincerely sorry that your visit did not live up to your expectations, and we appreciate your constructive feedback. We understand that the Christmas vacation period can be exceptionally busy, which can influence the overall experience. But, for us our favourite are the spa chairs in the outside pool. Our favourite time is evening and we always take a 3 hour slot. Such is our enjoyment of the spa we will make a point of adding mileage to our trip so we can visit!Dear Guest, Thank you very much for the positive feedback. - JudyjazoIsrael131 contributionsA relaxing rainy afternoonWe spent a lovely three hours on a rainy afternoon at the Thermal Spa. Parking was quick and reasonably priced. The reception was efficient and quick. We rented towels. You get a big locker included in the price. The change rooms were also a nice size and very private. The pools were warm and relaxing, with various temperatures. We had a salad at the bar which was enough for two. Well with the price for this experience.Dear Guest, Thank you very much for the positive feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed our place. - Nadejda IRichmond, Canada76 contributionsNot ideal for first-time users from out of countryA beautiful and spacious place. A large inside pool with cool water and a small pool with hot water. A couple of very nice outside pools and an outside sitting are to relax. Unfortunately, the jets in the outside pools weren’t working properly. The place definitely requires a bit of renovations and cleaning – you could see the broken tiles in the pools and quite a bit of dirt on the tiles. A very negative moment: we were rather surprised by the attitude of the front desk person – very grumpy, unfriendly and unhelpful. As this was our first time, we naturally had questions – where to get the towels, how to use the lockers (it wasn’t quite straightforward), etc. The man at the front desk was very unwelcoming and acted like we were nothing but a nuisance. Aside from that – a nice place to enjoy the waters.Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit to the Caracalla Spa. - stefaniaspinaLondon, United Kingdom75 contributionsSunny weather in Baden- Baden head for Caracalla Therme outside pools.Having read some negative reviews about Caracalla Therme we were a little apprehensive but our fears were allayed for the staff were most welcoming and helpful. We paid for both of us to use the pools and for my husband to use the sauna which is on the floor above and then outside are the wooden huts. There is seating of all description around the outside pools area. We had really good weather and could have stayed longer than the 3 hours we booked for although quite busy found it relaxing.Dear guest, We would like to thank you very much for the great review! - Jacinda LSingapore, Singapore51 contributionsReview from a Southeast Asian perspective - interesting water jets/unique massageWriting as a visitor from Singapore, who has travelled to the ASEAN + Japan/Korea/US, so I will focus on what I found really different from what I've experienced before. Firstly - yes, the entrance/ticketing etc can be quite confusing, but nothing some extensive research/pre-trip email/ polite smiles and questions on the spot will not solve. Managed to book a massage online at the Caracalla Spa, which turned out to be nothing I've had before in the years travelling to Bali/Thailand etc. The massage strokes , pressure, were just different. Fantastic! Some people have complained about the water jets in the indoor pool, but I tell you, those were the things I loved the most! Nowhere I have been previously did I manage to find such strong water jets hitting the tension out of my joints! There was also a cold pool but I couldn't stay in there more than 20 seconds each dip, while I saw savvy old German ladies grinning at me whilst they did their (probably weekly or daily) saunter into the cold waters then up and into the hot one and back again, round and round. So interesting for me. Due to pre-trip research, the bag I packed with bottled water, towel, change of clothes and slippers , turned out to be much needed.Dear Guest, Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I was really looking forward to spending a full two hours here, but left, after just over one hour, in disgust at the appalling staff behaviour and lack of functioning facilities. Before I start on my rant, I'd like to say that the baths, both internal and external are lovely. From outdoors there is even a nice view over the Old Town and Stiftskirche. Firstly, it came as a surprise to have to pay. an extra Euro 5 for the sauna. Never heard of such a thing in spas, neither in other parts of Germany, Hungary, or the UK. I would call this a con! As I was pushed for time, I decided not to purchase the saunas as an extra.
I was expecting to pay euro 15 for two hours, to include a euro 4 discount with the Gastekarte Baden-Baden. When the very rude Receptionist (blond hair) shouted at me that I didn't get money off, but would get an extra hour free, I asked her to explain, and she didn't have the courtesy to do so, and asked me to move out of the queue! It was only when I spoke to a polite gentleman (only male on duty at 8am today) that he showed me the details on the Gastekarte leaflet, explaining that, actually, you are getting euro 4 off euro 23, which is the price for 3 hours. Fair enough. So, I carried on, trying to work out how everything worked, and where everything was (lockers, changing rooms, where the entrance to the baths is etc - I was very pleased to be proficient in German! Good luck anyone who isn't!
Loved all the pools, and jets etc. Wonderful. The next bombshell came when I discovered that the steam rooms were closed! This was getting beyond a joke, and I was getting more and more irritated that my relaxing 2 hours were turning into a very frustrating time. I went to speak to the kind man on Reception to ask if he would allow me to use the sauna for free, seeing as the steam rooms were not working. He refused. When I asked him if I could please speak to a Manager, he said there wasn't a Manager! At that point, I gave up and left, without even having a shower, as I was so angry and disappointed with everything that had happened, I'd completely lost interest in staying on at all. The icing on the cake was when I couldn't open my locker because the touch bracelet doesn't work unless you first push the door inwards. I had asked two other customers if I was doing it right before going to Reception for a 2nd time so I could retrieve my belongings. What kind of a service was that, and what a rip off to have to pay the full entrance fee, when one of the key facilities is kaputt. Sehr enttäuscht! I think I should have at least euro 5 refunded, but didn't have the energy to ask! If there is a Manager somewhere, please could you respond to me why your Receptionist was so rude, and why you couldn't give me a free sauna in exchange for the steam rooms? Thank you in advance.

I was slightly underwhelmed by the thermal spa. I was expecting something a little more exclusive and more health driven but it was essentially a few pools of differing temperature, some inside, some outside, and some jacuzzis. The Hamman wasn’t working. We used the infra red beds for 10 mins which were nice. You could pay to use the saunas up stairs but that meant taking off the swim wear which was unappealing for me!!
On a positive note, the water itself was not chlorinated and left your skin feeling nice. The whole area was clean and didn’t smell like a swimming bath.
Things I would recommend - bring your own towels and gown. They didn’t have any gowns today and we hired towels which cost €6per towel. Bring some flip flops too
Nice but not sure if would go back

Booked a two hour entry to the hot spa (plus received an hour free) and booked two one hour massages for my partner and I (within the spa area).
Each massage was €65 and so came to around €85 total per head.
The massage was ok, although could have been a little deeper, nevertheless it was relaxing.
The hot baths themselves were lovely, and the hot and cold pools were excellent, but the real treat was the upstairs spa area with the multitude of different saunas. The wood fired sauna was a particular favourite, as were the outside showers (upon leaving the scalding rooms).

The baths themselves were very nice. They have a number of pools with different temperatures. Even the water in the outside pools were warm. The staff at reception were lovely and very helpful.
Note, there are no signs to say you are not allowed your phone and on their website it says:
''You are more than welcome to record your visit to us by taking pictures of yourself and your loved ones. In view of other visitors, however, it is not allowed to take photographs in the bathing area and sauna complex.''
However, when I was laying on a sunbed taking a photo, one of the staff members said no phones allowed and walked away. So I thought maybe you're not allowed it outside, but this was strange because I was not in the pool, 'bathing area'.
There was another couple next to me who were told the same thing and then they decided to leave. Anyway, I went into the pool and an hour later I went inside to check my messages and another lady came up to me and said, no phone and mumbled something in German. I thought this was quite rude.

Dear guest,
Thanks a lot for your review. We are pleased that you felt comfortable and that you like our interior.
As an oasis of relaxation, many of our guests simply want to enjoy the tranquility in our thermal baths - undisturbed by pictures that they, their family and friends show while bathing. That is not only their wish, but also their right. We therefore ask for your understanding that out of consideration for our bathers, it is not permitted to take photos at all. You never know whether or what is being photographed, so we ask our guests to refrain from using their mobile phones at all.
Best regards,
your CARASANA team

The spa consists of two areas, on two different floors, one for naturists. The pool area is the most popular with thermal water at different temperatures. The pools are structured to linger in the various areas, of course they are not designed for swimming. Maybe a little 'few water jets: different from each other, but very often you have to wait for them to clear. For this reason many are timed, in order to understand when to give way to another. Sunbeds available, although a little 'few in August. Beautiful saunas (in the area with the costume, the others we have not tried), relaxation areas and the Turkish bath. There is a small restaurant inside. Clean bathrooms and changing rooms, maybe a little small lockers. Inside, the classic bracelet allows you to open and close lockers and be charged for various services, including restaurant. Free hair dryers. Underground parking is available for a fee, in agreement with the property. You need to speak English with the staff. Admission is paid in time. To book massages or other treatments, we recommend moving a few months in advance directly on their site.

I had a deeply disturbing experience at this spa recently.
Upon entering the pool area before even stepping foot in water I was warned by staff that I was not allowed to use any facilities because my swimwear was not appropriate. I informed them the material is appropriate but it just covers my arms and legs. I was told to step aside as I was not allowed to use any facilities.
At the end of my visit, I inquired on why the swimwear wasn’t appropriate and why did I pay to not be allowed to infact use any of facilities. I was told the information was on the website and the written rules state (none were found by the Carasana staff) that long sleeve swimsuits were not allowed. When no actual guidelines were found, I further asked who determines what is inappropriate they said they just did on their own discretion.
I was told “we don’t want clients” with long sleeved swimwear because we just “don’t like it.” “This a private bath and we can do what we want, this is Germany.”
I asked them if they were aware this is discrimination - they were and were completely ok with it. Employee Patricia Tosana will corroborate this as these were her and the staff’s own words.
This is a disgusting display of ignorance and discrimination. The staff’s behavior was appalling.
The management was completely ok with treating people this way and then further double-downed on it apologetically when called out for their discrimination.

We visited for 3 hours on the second day of a 3 day trip and enjoyed it so much we went back the following day. The first 2 hours simply disappeared working our way through the many choices of sauna and steam therapies in the optional first floor area. With only an hour left to try out the large indoor pool and two outside pools we needed the second visit to do it justice. Although much busier at the weekend, on our return trip after a repeat of the sauna area we were able to fully enjoy all three pools as well as the ground floor steam rooms and still found time for some superb cake. The staff were very freindly and helped us pay for food and drink booked onto our armbands when we struggled with the automated process. Staying at Aqua Aurora Hotel we were able to access through the underground area and got a discounted entry which was a bonus. Highly recommended.

At 10 pm I wanted to dry a little bit my hair before go, because it's November so quiet cold outside. The employee (aged women with red hair and black glasses) yelled on me: "You take your towel and you go out !!".
So that's what I did. No chance, this evening someone took or stole my flip-flops in the sauna area and I asked her if they didn't find it.
She yelled again: "You want mine?? You must take attention with your stuff!"
When I said that she is aggressive, another employee instead of be sorry for her colleague, started to protect her and insist that she is right!!!
Dear Managers, I hope you understand that this way to treat customers is UNACCEPTABLE. This aggressive, insulting behavior didn't give us desire to come anymore. Who wants to be insulted by a stuff after a spa session?
Fortunately, this is not the only spa-center nearby, so we will go there next time.

This also includes the customer-friendly and courteous interaction of our employees with our guests. In order to avoid such situations in the future, we will discuss this incident internally. I can only offer my heartfelt apologies on behalf of the management.
Kind regards,

As the title suggests, the Caracalla Therme is very less naked than your typical German spa. In fact, you have to go out of your way to get to the naked section. For that reason, this is very popular with families. My wife and I enjoyed three relaxing hours in the warm water on a cold November morning. The process of getting in was easy with everything being charged to your wrist device. The food and wine was very good too. I would have preferred the other one as it is traditional with this one being modern. For less than 40 Euro, we had a great morning, four glasses of wine, and rented robes for us. This is a great deal.

I can buy the time for the pools online, but I also want to book facial. If i buy the facial online, there is no time or date for that? I just show up whenever and i can get the facial? I would have thought for a service, you need to book a time in advance. Please confirm.

I would like to book 2 hours in the spa and an anti aging facial for two people. When i go to book, it doesn’t seem to ask me to book a date and time. Do you just pay, and show up and they can accommodate you?

Hola! Tenemos un bebé de 1 año y nos gustaría ir. Podemos ir y entrar primero uno y luego el otro? En Islandia entramos con ella al agua sin problema, pero si no se puede haríamos turnos, es posible?
