Nicely presented aspects of local history and culture. Some interactive exhibits, like demonstrations of how old musical instruments worked, or the model black forest railway, but some were out of order. The exhibition of minerals was particularly well done, in sort of mock mine shaft.

Nice to have the museum included in the ticket for the waterfalls.
Was a nice little museum with lots of history.
The mining section, musical instruments and for a few euros can have songs played.
It’s much bigger than it seems. Costumes are displayed. A small souvenir shop at the entrance and nice Woden carvings.

Quirky, varied little museum for all things related to the Black Forest, attached to the tourist office. Get a pamphlet in English for some basic info on the exhibits as all signage is in German. We especially enjoyed the musical boxes and traditional costumes with amazing headwear. Combined ticket with the other two little museums (do go to the model rail one) and the waterfalls best value at 7.50 euro.

We had a wonderful visit and wished we could have staying longer but we wanted to see the waterfall before it got too dark. I particularly enjoyed the giant musical machines and it was worth the extra money to listen to them. The traditional dress exhibits were interesting. I had to google the hats to see what they represented. They had a goodly amount of clocks on display as well, plus vignettes of daily life from the old days. I just wished the cafe had been open.

We had a free area pass from our hotel that included this and the falls. I probably would have visited here either way, its worth the price and time. There is a lot of information about the history of the Black Forest area I was unaware of (and my Wife is German). some really well done displays and ornate clocks from the past of all sizes. Most of the information is only in German but you can get a headset for the details if you wish.

A little bit of everything in this museum. Unfortunately I couldn't read German to better appreciate the exhibits. Worth seeing since it was free, and I enjoyed the folk costumes. Afterwards treat yourself to some Black Forest cake at Cafe Adler. Excellent!

It's a very nice, quality museum, but to get the full experience of the many musical instruments you must pay 1 to 2 euro in the slot. Therefore, few people do this, and their experience suffers. I think the museum might consider bringing the price down to 50 cents, and I bet they would actually make more money! I know these fine machines require a lot of upkeep, so I don't mind paying, but I think 1-2 euro is a little steep. My advice is to try bringing it down to fifty cents and I think the museum would be very pleasantly surprised at the income they could generate.

A charming little museum that has interesting (ok, interesting to ME) surprises around most every corner. A little bit of local history, some traditional costumes, a bit of woodcarving, some immersive displays, clocks, clocks, clocks, cuckoo and otherwise, rocks and minerals, and, for me, the most interesting part was the (working) music automatons. Varied enough that there's SOMETHING here that should appeal to almost everyone except the most sullen of teenagers or jaded of travelers. One of the highlights of our Triberg visit.

We really enjoyed this museum. I knock it down one rating only because the routing through the museum was confusing and there were things that were supposed to play for a euro or two and they didn’t and no out of order sign was posted. The one thing that did play was the big coin operated music box (for lack of a better term) in the first room. That was pretty cool. Lots of neat things to see. Of note, there is no English placards on anything but you can purchase English headsets to wear.

Raise your hand if you think museum visit is destined for rainy day activity?
Yeah, I didn't think so. Open-Air Museum of Old Japanese Farm Houses is one prime example. The Schwarzwaldmuseum, or Black Forest Open-Air Museum, is even better. We visited on a sunny morning. That's the best day for learning the yesteryear of people in the Black Forest.
Learn more from this open classroom. You won't pick a rainy day to go there, trust me.
