It's a wonderful and amazing place to visit. The landscape is beautiful and there is much to see. Many swans and birds and a beautiful castle on an island, called Herrenchiemsee. Very good restaurants and very nice hiking trails. Worth coming in any season!

Chiemseelake is also called the Bavarian Sea and is the 3rd largest lake in Germany. It large, lovely, with interesting flora & fauna. There are three larger islands. On the Frauenchiemsee is a nunnery and the largest Herrenchiemsee is mostly visited because of the beautiful King Ludwig's Palace. The sightseeing is especially impressive when the weather is nice. Worth visiting... More

This lake is the 3rd largest in Germany. The water is unbelievably clean. You can take a ferry to an island and see a beautiful castle. This is an all day place. Enjoy the beauty of Bavaria.

They call it also Bavarian Sea - with so many things to discover I am not surprised. All day is essential especially when is beautiful day. Make sure you visit small islands and in the winter you one site if full of tourists where other is empty - good hotel deals available then.

We travelled to Chiemsee on a Thomson excursion from Ruhpolding. The ferry take you to the 2 islands. Herrenchiemsee has the palace and all the gardens and grounds which is nice for a walk on a sunny day. We didn't go in the palace as it was a lovely day and seemed a waste to be inside. The other smaller... More

I was on a road trip in south Germany. The lake was amazing and it was totally worth camping close by. There are a lot of great activities. I suggest at least 2 days in the area to relax by the sea and to visit the Herreninsel (island) with a beautiful castle (takes a whole day). I will definitely go... More
