This is one of the most comprehensive WWII museums (with a Nazi focus) I have ever visited (and as the wife of a WWII history buff, I have visited a lot). It is small and manageable, and the exhibits are comprehensive and impressive. We do...More

The Documentation Obersalzberg is only approximately 100 metres from where you get the bus to the Eagles Nest and is definitely worth the short walk. I suggest walking as the carpark is small and always full (according to the staff). Fortunately I can speak German...More

We read about the Documentation Center in Rick Steve's Guide and decided to stop by before visiting Eagle's Nest. We speak English and opted to get the audio guides for a small fee. A lot of great information about key players in WW2 as well...More

My family and I visited this museum as part of a 4-hour tour of the Obersalzberg. So, we were not in the museum long, and we were never offered the English audio guide, or any audio guide for that matter. All of the displays had...More

The museum is very small, but reach of point of interests. On groundfloor there is an overview of the Third Reich; the fisrt floor is dedicated to Berchtesgaden and to Obersalzerg. Currently the new museum's working is underway and the bunker is closed. You can...More

Very informative about years of World War II in Germany and the Nazi regime. Some photographs are gruesome and may be too disturbing for young children.

Lovely bustrip up the mountain. No view unfortunately due to rainy day. Very warm inside. Its a pitty they did not show how the nationalsocialism all came to be. This is aspecially important today when brown winds are once again flying all over Europe!

Excellent exhibit showing how Obersalzburg fits into the Nazi/Hitler story. It pulls no punches in explaining how Hitler dominated the German people and was responsible for killing over 20 million people. The video showing interviews with Obersalzburg residents who saw Hitler as a neighbor and...More

The Documentation Obersalzberg is located a couple of miles east of the town of Berchtesgaden on highway 319. The bus stop up to the Eagles Nest is next to the Documentation Obersalzberg.
