The family recreation area at Kolben in Oberammergau has everything for an exciting and diverse day in the nature perserve of the Ammergauer Alps. There's fun and action with the Alpine Coaster, playtime for the young ones on the mountain adventure playground, a variety of paths with amazing views to hike on, and the Kobensattel Lodge with it's singular view of Oberammergau and the Ammertal.

We visited in the summer with a 6 and 8 year old. This was an amazing, and very high (up to 17m!) ropes course (although they do have a small one for 3-5 year-olds). More info at naturezeit.eu It has only been open a year,...More

I went for the luge ride, did it a gain, 'cause it was a hoot. Long ride up, 20-30 minutes, for a 2-plus kilometer run down. Well worth a stop and one or more rides. But don't wear your hat, as you'll likely say goodbye...More

This was a lot of fun for the adults in the group. We had to take turns going up b/c we had a 2 yr old with us. The ride up on the chairlift was pretty and I could have hiked back down but who...More

This was our first experience doing an alpine coaster and it did not disappoint. The view from the chairlift on the ride up is breathtaking and the sled ride down is exhilarating. Very professional and safe. Had so much fun we had to do it...More

We truly enjoyed the time spent in the Kolbensattel area. We rode the alpine slide and it was exhilarating. We are a group of fifty somethings, so it's not just for kids. There is an awesome ropes course at the top. We loved the charming...More

€10 gets you a ticket for the ski lift and a toboggan ride to the bottom on a hair raising ride. The views on the way up are spectacular (be sure to look behind you) and there's a restaurant/bar close by. We were lucky enough...More

Just outside Oberammergau, 15 minutes from the Linderhof Palace, this Alpine Coaster is fun for the young & the young at heart. Just €10, you take about a 15 minute ride up the mountain on a ski lift, get off, walk a few yards to...More

Excellent location for photos and view. Cable cars take you to highest mountain in Germany. Going down is fun and real thriller, instead of using cable car try the sliding chair, I did not have the courage to try it though. Best part of Oberammergau.

You travel up the mountain in a chairlift, giving you a chance to enjoy the scenery in a pleasant, relaxed fashion. This in itself is well worth the ten Euros cost. Then, at the top, where there's a wooden chalet cafe, you get into your...More

This cable car brings you up or down in 15-20 minutes. Above the kids (of many ages) can play. There is also a nice restaurant but busy too. Sometimes you have to be lucky to sit outside with good weather. Next to this you have...More
