We stayed at the camping resort Zugspitze which was just down the road from the cable car, even had our own bathroom. The journey up to the viewing platform was €26 which included the train ride from the town. It was a great journey up as it was snowing as well. There is a restaurant which serves hot food, cold... If you're here anyway, then you have to go to the viewing platform. Amazing view. It projects out over the valley and you can see through the grid floor, so I'd defy anyone not to feel a little nervous while standing on this. It also sways a little as people walk on and off. A good experience though. From the... More

I've done the glass boxes at the Willis (sears) Tower and I'm not afraid of heights, but this platform certainly pushes that limit. The metal grates that you walk on allow you to see the valley below and the structure have a good amount of sway (or when someone jumps up and down on it)- still very cool and fun.

I am scared of heights. If you're scared of heights, this attraction is probably not for you. However, you can walk out a little ways before fear completely consumes you and get a great view. My husband, on the other hand, loves the thrill of things like this and easily gave it a 5/5. Also, it's free, so if you're... More

The gorge is absolutely gorgeous! Great for adults and for children in the summertime and even better in the wintertime - enormous icicles turn it into a winter wondrland

Go early to minimise the crowds. Lovely view from the platforms but lots of people. The platforms swing slightly which is a bit disconcerting - cool place to visit though & nice facilities nearby

Not for the faint-hearted but amazing view to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and rocky peaks around. Breathless experience.

Take the Alpspitz tram to the top, and then head here. No extra fee which was a pleasant discovery. TRULY gut-wrenching to walk out and see the drop down below- even my husband, who is not at all afraid of heights, felt his knees quaking! FUN!

Attraction is free, so when you are on the top just check if you fear of heights. Pictures can be also taken, but there are a few more "regular" view points.
