Excellent view on a clear day!

For the best view wait for a clear day, but otherwise it's still great to visit! There are little outdoor eateries for beir and a snack.

You really feel like you are at the top of the world! The cable car journey involves a bit of a queue but well worth it and they are building a new cable car. The train journey back was also very good.

We went up to see the views and see a little snow. The views were beautiful. We had lunch up top and it was delicious. On the way down we let our kids play in the snow. The only bad part was the horrible lines and wait. Next time we need to plan our times better.

Hold on to your hats and glasses on a windy day. The gondola ride up was magic until you hear the cracking of and the ice falling on the roof of the gondola near the top. Still a good ride. You can see for miles on a clear day all the way to Italy in good weather. This is a... More

We went for the skiing and found deep powder - so much more than what was on the classic part of the mountain. I think the sunshine day made it fantastic because I could tell this would not be an easy area if there was low visibility. We had no idea they have an igloo hotel or we might have... More

The attraction of Zugspitze is the high altitude reliability of the snow, and stunning mountaintop views. It's accessible to skiers and simple day-trippers, and that means queues can build up on the train and cablecar. And the ski runs are relatively limited too: just red and blues, and no black runs. So there are limitations to Zugspitze's appeal, but it's... More

Absolutely in awe of this mountain. We went up with the gondola and down with the train. The views are breathtaking and a must is to walk over to the Iglu hotel - a hotel/bar made from snow and ice. You can sit in deckchairs in the sun and sip hot mulled wine. The restaurants up there are fab too.... More

A fun experience. We took the special train from downtown Garmisch to the station at the Zugspitze. Then took the cable car to the top of the mountain. There's a restaurant at the top and you can go outside to the the cross monument marker by following a short path with a cable to guide your walk. Can also see... More

Compared to the Garmisch Classic area, the Zugspitze glacier is a little more limited - no black runs, only a few red and blue runs which are not particularly long, and if you go to the bottom of the area (on the longest run) there's only a T-bar to get back up. That said, if you're skiing in Garmisch, you... More

You can be in two countries at once: Germany and Austria at the top of the Zugspitze. What an amazing view! Worth the tog-rail trip. And you are also on a glacier. It's usually cold up there so dress warmly.
