Marienplatz is a beautiful structure and definitely a place you'll want to check out as a tourist. It's not something that takes a long time on the itinerary - but it is historically interesting and there are many cafes/restaurants near.

You must visit Marienplatz when in Munich. The glockenspiel plays a few times a day. I think 11, 12 and 5.

It is the main square in the heart of Munich and it is full with rebuilt old buildings but it has absolutely no atmosphere. Left it as quickly as possible.
