I've been at the Bayerische Staatsoper twice in January/2017 and both times had an amazing experience. The place is gorgeous and the staff is incredible: the dancers show accurate technique combined with passionate body expression! Must also mention the "Vorderhaus" team, receptioning more than attentively, and its manager, Charles Maxwell, an outstanding professional that really makes the difference in his... More

Not worth a trip. It's is just so plain and generic. If you want something to admire and enjoy for it's design, maybe consider a different country.

This tour is a showstopper! It was like being allowed behind the scenes at Disney or the green curtain to see the wizard. The areas that are always open to the general ticket buying public are lovely and it is nice to learn the history of the building etc but the real gem is the back stage access to dressing... More

Second time at this opera house and I wasn't disappointed - a new, avant garde, Eruo-modern production of Puccini's Turandot was a spectacle to see and hear. Conservative theater-goers will questions some of the artistic choices, but the Bavarian Staatsoper is one of Europe's top opera houses, on par with Vienna, Berlin, London, and even La Scala. Keep an open... More

Clearly an incredible opera house. The building is truly like a music temple. The exterior and the interior are quite imposing, but the auditorium itself is particularly impressive with fantastic acoustics. Went there for Shostakovich's Lady Macbeth under Kirill Petrenko's direction and I enjoyed every minute of it. Anja Kampe as Katerina Izmailova was simply perfect, stunning performance.

The place itself is a beautiful piece of architecture. Inside and outside just amazingly beautiful. When it comes to the performances it's a matter of taste. One thing for sure though: it's a bit pricy to watch a show. But an experience that's usually worth it.

The opera house and bars are a wonder and well worth a visit. The performance of Donizetti's "La Favourite" wasn't ideal - poor costume and set design and no discernable choreography; reminiscent of a bunch of singing commuters lost in a 1960s public library. For only the second time in dozens of opera attendances we left at the interval and... More

Touch of Greek style architecture. Grand building. Music is in the air. Pity didn't get to see a recital inside.
