Viktualienmarkt is an open air market spanning several city blocks. Most cities have a farmers market but this tops anything I have ever seen. Here you can find dozens of butcheries, bakeries, homemade soap and body products, fresh produce and flowers, dairy and gourmet oils, spices, desserts, coffee shops, sushi and restaurants for any cuisine imaginable, Turkish candies, chocolates, honey,... What a lovely and tradition place to spend some time while in Munich. A wide selection of places to eat and drink, very traditional with lovely stalls and things to walk round, look at and buy from. The market/square has a nice water fountain with an interesting and friendly group there. Good in the summer for a cold beer or... More

This is a very touristy part of Munich, but a lot of fun. There was a big soccer game when I first approached which meant lots of beer drinkers and lots of fun, albeit loud. The fruit stands were very nice and the fruit very fresh, however, the prices are very high. Nordsee is a great seafood restaurant. Casual, but... More

The Viktualienmarkt is a great place to either just stroll around & enjoy the atmosphere or sit down with a drink & food. Absolutely spoilt for choice, breads, cheeses, vegetables, meats, burgers, fish & fruit, beer of course & some lovely German wines, classic dry whites & their very drinkable light red wine. Two fantastic fish reataurants including wet fish... More

It is great to walk in this old "souk". We got honey from the viktualmarket. It is really nice to walk around, whenever you are in Munich, consider to see the Viktualmarket

So so so so much good food. Meats and cheeses, fruit and veg, breads and wine among plenty of other things. All of it looks so delicious there is just not enough time to try it all.

Loved this open air market! It is everything you would picture a Bavarian market to be. We bought some yummy cheese, a pretzel and two beers and plopped down in a beautiful, and busy, park. I felt totally immersed listening to the German language and laughs as the locals indulged in an even happy hour. We wandered through the markets,... More

Whatever you can eat or drink. You get it here. Whether it is a simple salad or a trüffel, an apple or something exotic. From lobster to chocolate, from olives to Leberkäs, from beer to vine. It is her. Price depends on your choice.

Wonderful range of stalls and places to eat, all set in a pleasant area between the river and the main squares in Munich Centre. Good for locals and visitors alike.
