We passed through the Hofgarten on a larger walking tour of central Munich. We came during December, which is important to note because pretty much nothing in the garden was in bloom. While the grounds are nice, and well-maintained, there isn't too much visually to check out during the winter months. There is a nice gazebo in the middle, where you can get a few nice pictures.

We came by the Odeonplatz so we saw the entrance from there. We had a break in the Starbucks nearby which happened to have a door that led here. The garden is quite large with a few ornaments around the edges. The biggest thing of interest is the pagoda in the middle of the garden. It is quite large and looks nice with the grass and the paving all leading to it.
We only went through it since it was raining and we were on our way somewhere else but the garden did look quite nice and peaceful.

This is a castle park in Italian Renaissance style. However, it is too arranged for my taste. In the center of the park stands a pavilion, the Diana Temple, and the park is surrounded by the castle as well as some arcades and portals. Otherwise there are mostly straight gravel paths and trees which quickly becomes monotonous. The park is well visited given its central location.

A city park located at the edge of Munich center. Surrounded by a war memorial in one end, a theater museum and residenz museum. It is a nice place for a quiet time and a nice park but that is all.

The Hofgarten or Court Garden is a nice public park and gardens at the southern end of the English Gardens and just north of the Residenz. As an Italian style Renaissance garden, it's highly regular and ornate with a pavilion for the goddess Diana in the centre. It's exceptionally beautiful this time of the year with the flowers in full bloom and green grass everywhere making it very popular with the locals.

There's a new buildings to see in and on the boundaries of the park such as the Bavarian State Chancellery and in front of that is the poignant Bavarian war memorial for the soldiers who died in the First World War

After a lot of prancing around the city, and the chaos of the traffic and the main tourist areas, it is a welcome reprieve to arrive here.

Large buildings with museums in surrounding the gardens. The paths were a little slippery with the cold temperatures.

Visit Duration: 45 minutes.

Directly behind the Odeonsplatz square, the Hofgarten, which belongs to the Munich Residenz, is located between the Residenz and the Englischer Garten.

The courtyard garden attracts many to to relax between meadows, flowerbeds, shady trees, fountains, gravel paths and the round pavilion.

In the arcade, which closes the courtyard garden on two sides, different murals show moments from the history of the house Wittelsbach.

A wonderful area for walking and enjoying the scenery and gardens. This area is beautiful and a great place to stop and take pictures or just relax. Many people there walking dogs and enjoying the outdoors.
