Visiting the Residence was a highlight of our visit to Munich. It is a vast complex with rooms of extraordinary splendour. It was built to impress. The rooms are hung with the finest silks, gilding and furnishings. Splendid and showy. The artefacts on show are...More

When we saw that we were offered a buggy for our 4 years old, we did not know what was coming. It is a beautiful trip if you are into history, a bit too much when running around with kids. The treasury was a nice...More

Much has been written about this large palace, so I will offer only one suggestion: buy a combo ticket for all three area museums: the Residence palace, the Treasury and the Cuv. Theater. Three for one price - 10 euros, I think. All are quite...More

What a beautiful residence. It was very engaging to hear about the history of this location. The residence is so huge!! TIP: There’s a beautiful park on the north side.

Sadly I just visited residence, and skipped the Treasury. What I can say is that you better go in the morning, take the combo ticket, and arm yourself with patience when it comes to audio guide. It is true that they have boards in most...More

Spent about two hours here getting lost in and exploring amazing rooms. Truly breathtaking and relatively cheap. A must-see for any tourist interested in royal life.

Amazing artefacts and history. However, you could end up spending all day inside, so plan your time wisely

Absolutely blown away by the Munich Residenz. We only spent 3 days in Munich but I’m so glad we chose to come here. Easily my highlight of the trip. So much history, so many amazing artefacts and artworks on display, this is far above and...More

Beautiful museum/complex full of fascinating art, architecture, and furnishings, illustrating how the Bavarian royal family lived. It reminded me of a mini-Versailles, but very German, and not swarming with aggressive tourists like Versailles. If you feel like sharing in the opulence, they have some really...More

We were there last Staurday and Elector rooms were open. I would say even if some of the rooms are closed you will still have enough things to see in Residenz!

Take public transportation. Parking around Munich in general is tough, and the Residenz is easy walking distance to several transportation stops and other great sightseeing and food options.

At the moment are closed at least the apartments of the Royal couple, the Nibelungen Halls and the collection of European porcelan. Have a nice visit, anyway.
