The most interesting museum in Nuremberg, for me.And the biggest. You can easily spend a half a day here, even more! There are a lot of things to see:weapons from Stone Age or from Middle Ages, paintings, including some signed by Albrecht Durrer,A lot of marvelous old watches, sundials, compasses, old surgical instruments, religious objects, old furniture and many more. It's like the Ali Baba's cave!Unfotunately, there are sections without english explanations. There are... Very well curated selection of Germanic sculpture and art dating back to the pre-baroque days, and a numerous selection of artifacts - from samples of the various artisan guilds in the Renaissance days, an exhaustive collection of medieval musical instruments, baroque-renaissance period garments and also beautiful arms & armor from the middle ages up to the 19th century. Hang on... More

We had a day in Nuremberg following our river cruise and after a walk around town visited this museum. It was great, we were lucky to see the special Exhibit of Charles IV (which is on till the Spring 2017) and we toured the rest of the museum. This museum is worth the visit.

There is a lot of information to take in, so allow more time if you are curious about human history. The permanent exhibits are divided into a few categories. One room presented human history in a chronological order that shows how humans progress from stone age to bronze age and all the way to now. It was brilliant. There were... More

Beautifully displayed artifacts, but can be a maze when wandering around. Unclear is whether one leaves bags in cloak rooms, or permitted to carry while looking through collection. More English speaking staff could be helpful.

This huge museum has a large collection and we enjoyed what we saw. However, the map provided was not easy to use and we were unable to find our way to a number of exhibits.

We arrived one hour before the closing and the entrance was free ;) The place is amazing, great paintings and sculptures. Even if we had paid the entrance fee, the money would have been worth it.

This museum is worth seeing no matter what interests you, it is so huge there is bound to be something for everyone. It was quite cheap to get in and we got more than our money's worth. Definitely take the map they give you at the info desk because you'll need it. We went two hours before closing and were... More
