Very big, great paintings and lots more, too much to see in 2 hours, but good quality! Wish I had come 1 hour before to see it all!

I cannot summarize accurately what a wonderful experience I had at the GNM. First, I must say that I completely underestimated the amount of time to spend here. I thought I would give the museum 1-2 hrs. It would fully merit 3-4 hours, in my opinion. The museum does a fantastic job of leading you though the history of German... More

MASSIVE! this museum has to be visited several times in order to see it all. I have been there 2 times already and barely seen half.

Whatever your tastes you will find it. Paintings, altarpieces, musical instruments, armour, regional history, etc. etc. Allow plenty of time.

We spent a day here, to visit this Museum. There was a Cranach exhibition on, which is why we visited. There are however so many other stunning exhibitions, you could easily spend a whole week here. I can highly recommend their toy museum, they have the most phenomenal doll houses and old toys there. Their Art collection is also second... More

It would probably take a full day or more to see all the collections: pick your favorites... weapons and armours or religious paintings and sculptures from the middle ages or musical instruments or 20th century paintings or.... Unfortunately the recorded audio tour is available only in German.

We spent several, very interesting, hours visiting only a rather small part of this very rich museum. One will need several visits in order to enjoy all the exhibition rooms.

One reads this is one of the best museums in the world and it is easy to see why. The structures which house it are fascinating in and of themselves. Many inventions come from Nuremberg, for example the pocketwatch and the globe, and the originals are in the museum. There is a fantastic collection of early musical instruments, galleries filled... The German National Museum is a must when visiting Nuremberg, Germany. It is laid out exceptionally well and photographs are permitted. This museum rivals the Victoria and Albert in London.
