Came to Fussen for a late lunch after Neuschwanstein Castle. Pleasant and pretty, but small town - nothing much to see or do. Most stores were closed by 5pm.

Fussen is a very old German city at the foothills with some very interesting history and architecture. The old city is mostly flat and easy to walk around. The gift shops seamed to be a bit pricey, but like always you must shop and learn what things are worth. There are good deals to be found. Many hotels and apartments... More

We were staying at nearby Hopfen am See and stopped to have a look around after visiting the nearby castles on a Sunday afternoon. It is quite a small city with a pedestrian mall and quite a number of beautiful medieval buildings. We spent a pleasant hour or so walking around, eating and ice cream and taking photos.

It is not an old town you will be excited enough to send a postcard, especially if you have been traveling along the german romantic road. It's proximity to Neuschwanstein castle must be its main claim of fame. The Rathaus and the clock tower are quite ordinary and even the rococo facade is quite small that it takes an hour... More

It’s not even a city, it’s a town and a ghost town. We selected it due to its proximity to the castles but it would have been better to have stayed on Landsberg or even directly on the hotels close to the castles. Mind you, I didn’t visit the town on low season, it was during the chistmas market period,... More

At the base of the Bavarian Alps, Fussen dates back centuries and was originally a Roman enclave and fortress guarding the Via Claudia. The old town is quaint, charming, colorful and historic. It is a pedestrian only zone which is nice. The crowning structure is the Hohes Schloss which towers over the town and was the summer residence of the... More

The city of Fuessen has a lot of charm with beautifully painted facades and great views of the old walls. However the shops and restaurants close very early (by 6pm). Only window shopping for us as our trip did not afford time to return the next day. Easy to walk around largely pedestrian friendly.

Fussen sits in a fantastic location, within 10 minutes from Neuschwenstein Castle, it is also the terminal point of the Romantic Road and a border town with Austria with many skiing slopes around. But the town itself is very pretty too with a colourful Altstadt painted in lovely pastel colours, a beautifully decorated pharmacy and a river passing through not... More

The clean, neat old town is similar to many other German towns and there are many little shops and eateries obviously catering well for tourists. In this part of Fussen two streets meet like a "V". Further on you can walk a short distance up to the castle.
