I ended up doing this walk three times on different days at different times of the day. It is fairly easy to do and once you arrive at the very top a great view awaits. Felt very eerie in the late afternoon with the via sagra along the way and complete and utter silence. If you're in Fussen, do it.

I was in the area to see the castle and took a short walk up to see the views from here. They are amazing. Worth the short walk.

Absolutely stunning views. Quite a steep walk for about half an hour. If you are up for the walk though the views are absolutely amazing! Absolutely worth it!

It takes you only 20 minutes and then you can see Neuschwaanstein castle and neighboring lake from the top of the mountain. Lovely hike that doesn't take too much time!

Unexpected hike when a gentleman on the road suggested that we head up the small path on our way back from Lechfall and Treetops walkway. We had no waters and insufficient footwear, but the views were worth the steep hike.

We climbed up the back along a steep woodland trail so the good views came on us suddenly. There were some good pictures and chapels both at the top and on the way down. I particularly liked the tunnel underneath the Calvary building.

Last week I hiked the Kalvarienberg even with snow. It was sometimes a bit icy, though the view was definately worth it. It is possible to get there from Füssen via the waterval, however I did not do this (unfortunately). I hiked also via the Schwansee/Alpsee to the village of Hohenschwangau. The paths are really well marked and actually this... More

Most people who go to Fussen only focus on the Altstadt and going to the castles by bus and carriage (I just feel sorry for the horses btw). What I loved the most was trekking around, leaving from Fussen on foot, walking to the castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, and then taking paths around the Kalvarienberg. Very nice view of... More
