This is where everything happens. You can find lots of good restaurants in this area. I had very delicious hot chocolate around! You cannot miss it!

We visited just this month (December 2015). What a great place to go. It was cold and kind of rainy but the Christmas markets, food, entertainment, prices, people and the overall atmosphere are just great. If you are in Germany, you have to visit the town square of Rothenburg.

Anchoring the Market Square, the Rathaus is worth the short time it takes to visit. There are also town square vendors. The beauty of this location is the town itself. For those seeking genuine German Christmas items, including smokers, nutcrackers, ornaments, and more, Rothenburg is a must-see town, well-preserved Medieval town.

They don't warn you that it is a fairly long way to the top and many stairs. The last section is like climbing a ladder and would be hard for a larger person to fit through the door to the top.

This was my first Christmas Market in Germany. I will say that I will say next year that I'll come back next year and/or to another Christmas Market. It was big and it has a lot of things to do and see. The Town Hall had a band to playing Christmas Music. There were a lot of vendors and food... More

Rothenburg Town Hall (Rathaus) an interesting hybrid mélange of designs. You cant help but see it in the square. The question is whether to enter to climb to the tower. We didn't.

You can watch the clock and at the hour there is a little coo-coo show which is a little ordinary to my liking. I thought it would be more exciting to watch...

The markets are spread not only over the central plaza, but also into the smaller plazas and contiguous roads. Very good market: large enough to have a wide variety of booths but spread out so you don't feel crushed by the crowds, like Ausburg. Having a Kathy Wohlfart in the area always adds to the Christmas spirit. The food was... More

Rothenburg ob der tauber, a lovely town. Walking through the streets feels like going back in time. The wall, Rathaus, cafés worth the drive to this magical town. The Christmas shop and museum makes you wonder whether they are a part of Disneyland family. You must taste the snowball cookies with topping...

This makes for one of the best Christmas markets as it is so beautifully contained by the Rathaus and buildings around it.
