it seems just a few tourists know about this smaal but highly picturesque garden... In the small, but romantic, Lusam Garden (access via Martinstraße) in the northern part of the Neumünster church is the Tomb monument located of minstrel Walther von der Vogelweide, who was allowed by Frederick II to retain his former residence in Würzburg. His last wish was realized in 1930 with the preparation of a new headstone: three stone bowls for water and food for the birds (architect Hugo von Trimberg). The 1180 cloister-wing is an important work in Würzburg of the Hohenstaufen period (Swabian Hohenstaufen House was a Royal House that generated several German kings and emperors in the 12th and 13th century). Ivy entwines with the old arcade row from de11e century (16 arcades with reliefs of Würzburg citizens), flower beds at the entrance and the shade of the trees, invite for some tranquility on its beautiful stone banks.

Behind the St. Kilians Cathedral a little bit hidden lies the Lusamgartlein. Very nice shadow place en sommer you can rest or eat and drink somthing. There are enough seats for rest.
The old cloister makes the place very romantic and remenbers to the poet Walther von der Vogelweide which dies here arround
the year of 1230.

Beautiful peaceful courtyard... until the hoards of tourists (of which I was one) pile in. Lovely stone remembering Walther v. der Vogelweide with indentations for birds to drink from.

We looked for this garden area after our visit to the inside of Neumunsterkirche. We left the church through a side door and came across a small passage way with soft reddish pink stone arch work fronted by a bed planted with low evergreens and short grasses. Vines sprawled over the top of the archwork. The short classic spiral columns and some stone reliefs were still attractive and looked very old. At the end of the passageway against the pink exterior of the Neumunsterkirche was a tombstone monument and a bronze plaque/memorial for the medieval troubador, Walther von der Vogelweide. Allow time for a glance - enough to say you've been there, seen that.

We discovered this small garden accidentally, when leaving the church on a side exit. It looks like a cosy small garden, and probably not a lot of people know about it, so it is not crowded. I guess it could be a nice place to take a break from walking in sommer.

I stumbled across this by accident while I was exploring Wurzburg. It’s pretty, but what you see in the picture is it.

It was busy while I was there: groups of kids were having a picnic there.

Seen on our way through to Dom St Kilian, unusual placement but fitting design, some seating available.

This is a real gem - "Kleinod" in German - in Wuerzburg. Its columns are taken from an old monastery and are among the oldest stones in the city. Here, the bard - "Minnesaenger" - Walter von der Vogelweide - "Walter of the bird's pasture" - is buried. Wuerzburgers still put fresh flowers on his grave. A wonderful place to visit and reflect on the past in the tranquility of this special place. It's close to the Cathedral - just ask a local for directions as its entrance is a bit hard to find.

A small garden with the alleged grave of Walther von der Vogelweide and the remains of a monastery cloister. Can be entered through the Neumünster church or from the street.
