Stunning at night

Lit up with a christmas tree behind, it was just stunning and a must see on an historical trip. Very busy location by day, so we returned at night ad were not disappointed.

A gate of peace, that was used as a backdrop for WWII. Pictures do not do it justice. It is just one of many attractions, monuments and museums in the area. All centralized and an easy walk. Get a good guide book, we used Rick Steves, to walk the area.

Very pretty. I dropped by several times. One evening there was a large crowd and a light show which was really cool. Political protesters and a quirky crowd, including a woman on roller skates wearing a dress covered in light bulbs that lit up!

A must see when in Berlin. It is good to see it by day and it even looked stunning in the fog at night.

This is of course a must see when visiting Berlin. By evening this is beautiful to see with all the lightning. In December it is lovely to see it with a great Christmas tree in the front and all the lights behind you on the "Unter den Linden".

This gate is something you should put in your agenda if youa are in Berlin. I visited in the afternoon, I assume it could look great even in the night time. It is great engineering result, impressive and magnificent.

Well the markets were not terribly inspiring and the drinks were very expensive but it was quite nice. One of the best 'tourist' attractions was the Brandenburg gate . Very impressive and a must see if you venture to Berlin.

What you see is what you get, it is very pretty at night and very nice during the day. It's always popular unless it is late at night or early morning

The tourist attraction par excellence. But a visit is always worth it when in Berlin. And another sightseeing highlight which is free. The Brandenburg Gate marked the border between East and West Berlin. Until the German reunification, it was the symbol of the Cold War and became a symbol of the reunification of Germany and Europe after 1990. Breathe the... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
