This gallery is located in the Kultur Forum. It is slightly sprawling in layout but features work by some of the greatest artists such as Botticelli, Caravaggio, Canaletto and Vermeer.Well worth a visit.

This gallery holds many renowned canvasses from all over the world, in addition to it's excellent collection of German artists, who are perhaps less well known to foreign visitors. It is a gallery to which we will certainly return when we revisit Berlin.

The art in the Gemaldegalerie took my breath away! There is a lot of virgin with child artwork but it's interesting to see how different artists painted the subject differently and the history behind the pictures is still fascinating, definitely get an audio guide to hear the meaning behind the art and information about the artists. I was most excited... More

1500 works of art from 1300 to 1800, so many world famous pieces are here. This place is massive, but if you use the free audio guide it will zip you through each room highlighting the best of the best. If you've got time, take your time and take it in, this is truly exceptional art on display. Enjoy!

This is an oustanding collection of european art from the earliest period of religious iconography through to the classical and romantic periods. The presentation is systematic and there is an audioguide . Highlights for us were the Vermeer and Carravagio paintings. Easliy reached building, on foot or by transport, in Kulturforum. worth at least a half day visit

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
