Great bars on this strip and bars welcoming once in, able to sit at bar and enjoy a drink. Wait staff having fun making cocktails and enjoying the banter. Even on own felt really comfortable sitting having drink and absorbing the people and atmosphere!

I walked along this street looking to find a nice Bar and place to eat and there were lots to choose from! Very safe and a classic hobo street in Berlin. Enjoy!

There are lots of bars and restaurants in this cool little area of Berlin. There is also the old Jewish Synagogue (which I believe is now a museum). The building is absolutely stunning. Worth a visit.

I have been going to Berlin for many years and I always have a couple of nights out on Orianienburger Straße as the pubs, bars and restaurants here are just superb. I have read some negative recent reviews about this street being quiet and to be honest I can only assume that they were in the wrong area. There is... More

When you might want toen visit the Hackescher Markt/Oranienburger Straße area, please door. It is ganz gemütlich and there are somehow quite nice restaurants and bars locatiedirecteur in the area. But mind you: around the fall of darkness, certain, not that handsome ladies appear on the street trying to call every male passing by. The best way to deal with... More

This is a really trendy area with lots of nice bars and restaurants. I would recommend the Thai restaurant Kamala to anyone; delicious! There are also many pretty courtyards that have shops within them and are great for pictures as some are very arty and picturesque. The street also has history in the form of the Jewish Synagogue which I... More

We went there as it was advertised in a guide book as a night life centre of Berlin. We found it a quiet lazy street, even at night. There are a lot of bars and restaurants along the street so you have a wide choice of places to eat - inside or outside. If you expect a busy lively street,... More

I was amazed with this pub but not in a good way. It was recommended in my guide book. However, not the one I visited if not the previous one. The pub is as old as before but it was run by a berlirner family. Regrettably they had to leave it, the lease became too expensive. The actual pub had... More

This area might put the travellers off at first due to the old infrastructure of the area. However, once the dawn comes then will you experience an incredible nightlife, and a healthy artistic crowd who have their hands and voices in paintings, singing and writing sitting modestly at bars and restaurants chatting and drinking till late. The area is packed... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
