The Boros Sammlung is very exclusively open and you'll need to reserve up front. It's a unique location and not so crowded, so that was for me the most impressive. The artworks left me wondering about 'what is art & beauty' but nevertheless an interesting trip if you're open for it.

Exciting place to visit - The few architectural changes made to the bunker works perfect with the art. Just to walk around is an experience.

Boros Collection: There is much information available on this popular private collection of contemporary art which is arguably as famous as much, if not more so, for its location within a former bunker. We were not able to secure a guided tour (these apparently need to be booked quite in advance) but nonetheless, were not left wanting for information since... More

A great collection of modern art. The tour was interesting, the guide was great with good explanations and at the same time left each visitor make their own mind about each piece of art.

Staggering. We visited in July 2016, the only booking left (the very last of the season) was for a tour in German, however our guide was delighted to intersperse English into her fascinating commentaries. The building and the collection are intertwined in the most spectacular way - of all the amazing things to see and do in Berlin, this was... More

This is the second time I visited the Bunker and it was a great experience again! Whenever you like contemporary art, this is a must see in Berlin, set in an amazing and historically very interesting setting. You need to book your visit in advance, as they only let 12 people in at the time. But for that you get... More

This is a wonderful attraction for two reasons: It's a signature collection of modern art (make of that what you will) curated by wealthy Germans; but even better is that it's housed in a converted wartime bunker, maybe the last intact one of its kind. It's worth visiting the outside just to see concrete Reich-era architecture (pocked with small-arms fire... More

My son bought tickets to this in advance...it is needed. It fills up fast. This is an old bunker, left over from Hitler days and the way our guide explained the bunker is that there were similiar buildings in other areas of town, but if there was an air strike near this bunker, the people that lived in the area... Loved our guided visit from an enthusiastic young clothing design student. The bunker itself was fascinating, one could only imagine what it would have been like during the war here, crammed in like sardines and bombs falling all around Berlin. The artwork was interesting, some to our taste and some not as is usually the case with modern art. A... More

Through an acquaintance I had heard about the Boros Samlung. She had been there with 2 kids and they were very excited. Contemporary art is it really something for children? Yes of course, if you exhibit it in an old bunker from the Hitler time. A building with a fantastic history, the war, the DDR time and then the fetich... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
