The Museum of Letters is devoted to preserving and documenting letterforms. Hundreds of signs have alredy been rescued from decay and the scarp heap. Typographic elements are selected independently of culture, region, language and sricpt system.

Such a great place. I'm a little bias being a graphic designer. I was in my element here, the display of all the letters and the illuminations of the neon ones was excellent. A great range of typefaces and styles over the ages. My girlfriend...More

Buchstabenmuseum is a great initiative to save, restore and document signage from Berlin and the surroundings. They display all this in a 350 square meter former GDR supermarket at Jannowitzbrücke. They also have a small shop where you can buy stone letters, post cards and...More

Funny small museum trying to remember the history of signs. Even though the museum is just fun and very small, the visit makes you look at signs in a different way. Suddenly they are not just showing the name of a shop but a cultural...More

First of all, note that some of the reviews below are out of date – the museum has moved, so it’s no longer near the TV tower. It’s right opposite Jannowitzbrücke underground station now, just a few minutes’ ride from Alexanderplatz. Opening hours are a...More

For a small museum, this treasure trove of found and salvaged signage from the streets and buildings of Berlin and beyond kept us enthralled for ages. It may be a little niche for some (as a group of graphic designers, this was basically heaven for...More

This is really something. The people working were great. THe museum is important for city and graphic design history. Enjoy and make a nice donation to support this great little treasure.

Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through
the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which
lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood.
Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city:
upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades
and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone
streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through
little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop
