Tierpark Berlin-Friedrichsfelde is open 365 days a year to its visitors from near and far - also on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Covering 160 hectares this landscape zoo has yet to meet its match. Here await you spacious open-air enclosures for herds of hoofed animals, great expanses of water for waterfowl and flamingos, and impressive animal houses (Alfred-Brehm-Haus for big cats and tropical birds; the pachyderm house for elephants, rhinoceroses, and sea cows; the hummingbird and crocodile house; and the house for African primates). A visit to the snake farm presents you with one of Europe's greatest collections of venomous snakes in the one display terrarium. New additions to our facilities now cater to Asian and European mountain animals and Japanese macaques.

This is where the ZOO-animals go when they need a holiday or a medical break. The place is much more open space than the ZOO so the name PARK is well chosen (my advice is to take comfy shoes). When I was here twice, there were very few people so I was impressed. But note: it's quite a drive down... More

If you are deciding whether to visit the zoo at Zoologischer Garten or this during winter, definitely choose this! Tierpark requires quite a bit of walking to get around the entire zoo as the animal enclosures are much larger compared to the Zoologischer Garten Zoo. Despite the cold weather, majority of the animals are still out and about so you... More

Visited to see if we could get a chance of a peek at the new polar bear....knew it was a long shot but got to see his dad enjoying a play in the freezing water while collecting his snack....the park is very widespread and you do need to use the maps and signposts to ensure you dont miss anything. Was... More

Though it is located in eastern Berlin, you can get there by means of U-Bahn, S-Bahn and bus. It is very extensive, so make sure you have a day time to visit the whole zoo. Finding cafes is not so easy inside Tierpark. It is better to have some snacks and drinks to avoid starving!

We visited this zoo park with our two kids in June. It was a perfect sunny day and there was a large crowd of visitors including several families. The park is spread over 19 acres and home for over 1800 birds and animals. A tour through this picturesque park is an adventure in itself for young and old alike. The... More

I visited on a fairly grey and cold day in November. The zoo is very big, and there are lots of beautiful trees which makes walking around an enjoyable experience. There are many different kinds of animals to see - and most of the enclosures are decent. The large cats section, however, is atrocious and they seem quite stressed just... More

Went there on Nov 12, 2016. What I loved: elephants, tigers, polar bear, free mini train ride, trees & parks, the tropical zone Oh, and there's a beautiful castle inside it :) Feedback: More English descriptions, staff can be more interactive & helpful to guests, orang utans would be a great collection addition

My friends, their two young children and I had a wonderful day out at this zoo. It is set in spacious parkland and the enclosures are quite far apart, but suddenly coming across giraffes or elephants somehow added to the charm. It was also nice to see a lot of the animals in very spacious enclosures. If you don't feel... More

This park is a place to visit, you'll probably need few hours to get around and see almost all of the animals.

We visited the other, 'main', Berlin Zoo last year, and so opted to visit the Tierpark this year. Firstly, it is SO big! We spent almost 5 hours there and it wasn't long enough. Definitely get there at the time of opening so you've got all day to spend looking round. There's cafes onsite and lots of play areas for... More
