Great view

Fun and good value for the price! We went up on a bit of a miserable day but the views would be amazing on a clear day! Not far from Checkpoint Charlie (5 min walk) so it's worth the detour from the usual attractions

This is a great first stop in Berlin. It will help you get a lay of land. The pilot is super knowledgeable and helpful if you are trying to pick or specific buildings on the horizon.

Visited the air ballon for a second time while On a recent trip to Berlin. First time had been amazing with the spectacular views of Berlin and its famous landmarks, as the sunset. So obviously this visit I needed to experience that again. Went up a bit earlier this time so sadly there was no sunset but the views were... More

We found this by accident whilst wandering from Checkpoint Charlie to the Topography of Terror. Couldnt resist taken a ride with my wife as she is scared of heights but was game to go up. What an amazing view and well worth doing it to see Berlin from above.

This is the blue and white balloon ride you see people taking over Berlin. It is a unique way to see this beautiful city . The hot air balloon ride is a little rough so the weak of the heart should avoid it. You can catch this ride behind the Trabi World, near Checkpoint Charlie. An expert pilot takes you... More

A couple of hundred yards west of Checkpoint Charlie is an interesting attraction which is a large tethered balloon in which you can take a scenic ‘flight’ to see the City. Standing in a do-nut shaped basket may not be to everyone’s taste and at 19 euro it seems a little steep but it does a brisk trade.

We had to wait around one hour but it was well worth, stunning view, there were only 10 people at the baloon so it was easy to walk around. Fair price 19,95 Euro

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
