Schlachtensee is easily reachable from the S1 (though it's a bit of a walk from the U3 Krumme Lanke stop - take the S-Bahn!). The Biergarten at the S1 entrance is really nice and the lake is very accessible with a mostly sandy bottom (for...More

Great place to take a day trip if you are looking to get out of the city and see some green. S-bahn drops you off about 15 minute walk from the "beach" areas which are really grassy knolls leading up to the lake. Bring a...More

It's usually packed with teenagers, as it is easily accessible by Subway, and free. Many little access points to the water and a few beaches. Water is very clean. No dogs allowed.

My parents and I did the approximately 7km walk all the way around the water, then sat down for beer and Gulasch soup. Beautiful, calm walk outside of the big city.

I love this lake. Quite, beautiful view and a nice bar to the taste a beer. Maybe in summer it is also good to swim.

A nice relaxing stroll around the edge of a lake is always a nice tonic. The Schlachtensee wasn't as spectacular as I'd hoped (maybe spoiled previously by living on the Starnberger See) but it made for a perfectly pleasant excursion.

The title sumd it up. Not spectacular, too crowded, but still... a lake in the forest next to a large city comes with its pros and cons. Horrible service at the restaurant at the northern tip of the lake, though.
