ACB is not necessarily "American" but more international, as English is the common language of the parishioners. Housed in the historic Luther Church, it has pre-war statuary and gothic design, but also mid-century modern stained glass windows. There are 2 services, traditional (11:00) and contemporary (1:30), which last a little over an hour. The traditional service is more Lutheran-like, and... More

They have a wonderful American Thanksgiving gathering in November. Its not the traditional banquet but a lively event with lots of music and of course good food. There are also many members from Africa, primarily Camaroon but not only. From there its amazing all the other nationalities one finds. All speaking English.

I am from Chicago and currently living in Berlin and really enjoy attending this church. The congregation has the warmth of an American church and the liturgical style of a German Lutheran service. The pastor is very friendly and welcoming and his sermons are based on Scripture and relevant to the world we live in today.

It's a great place to be! The Pastor, the ushers and the rest of the congregation are really great people and are always really happy to meet new people. It's a joy for the kids to learn in a playful way, surrounded by other kids. If you just want to enjoy a great worship with a coffee hour afterwards, if... More

ACB has been my/our new church home since moving to Berlin! And trust me, those are big shoes to fill having left the wonderful church home I grew up in as a child and served in as an adult. Love the diversity, openness, community aware, structured, yet fun church family we found here. Great place for my kiddo to experience... More

Staying in Schoneberg

Neighbourhood Profile
In 1963, Schöneberg was the centre of the political west, inspiring John F. Kennedy to choose this area to famously announce, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Times may have changed, but modern-day Schöneberg still pays tribute to its historical legacies. Once the richest city outside of Berlin proper, the area's affluent past is still visible in ornate housing facades dating back to the Gründerzeit of the 19th century, while residents in fur coats walking their dogs or shopping in high-end KaDeWe continue the tradition with a modern flair. Schöneberg was also once the centre of the decadent and burlesque nightlife of the 1920s. It was here that Marlene Dietrich partied with Christopher Isherwood and the first gay bar in Germany was founded. Today, the gay community still revolves around Nollendorfplatz. The overground Ubahn station is even illuminated in rainbow colors, paying tribute to Schöneberg's progressive past.
