We (2 adults, 2 teens) really enjoyed the 4 hour Famous Walk with guide Barnaby. He quickly made us feel at ease was knowledgable and thoughtful - bringing socks and scarves for us cold tourists who hadn't prepared for the cold winter day. It was great to explore Berlin with a guide genuinely passionate about his subject and we appreciated... More

Michael was a very informed, interesting and entertaining guide on the Cold War tour; a tour done in minus temperatures with snow falling gently on us as he shared his wealth of knowledge. This is my third tour in 3 years with this company and they never disappoint

I am writing this review for a Tour I took 4 years ago. Time flies! At the time I did not have the convenience of an app on my cell and while I had all intention to write a review, well it just did not happen. My bad! Today while I was cleaning up my desk I found that Insider... More

We had Barnaby as a guide on the Famous walk tour and were not disappointed. Despite being a very cold day he made the tour very enjoyable with his excellent knowlege and great sense of humour. The tour is split into 3 themes ( historic, communism and Nazis). Highly recommend this tour.

Our humorous and very informative tour guide, Baranaby, made the tour thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile, despite the cold weather. In just four hours you get to see so much of the city in so much detail, including buildings and monuments that you may not have known to visit. Brilliant value and highly recommended. - Irish students

I highly recommend this tour, our guide Cesar was great - extremely knowledgable and everything that he said was very interesting. If you are going in January make sure you take as many warms clothes as possible - it was freezing!

My husband, teen daughter and I absolutely loved the Famous Walk around Berlin, 12th Jan 2017. Our Tour Guide, Maria was engaging, entertaining, warm (very important when the weather was so bleak) wonderful, witty and highly historically informed. With only 3 days in Berlin, this walk made sure we saw many architectural treasures, learned what other treasures were housed within,... More

I find it hard to imagine one could have a better guide than Barnaby - his passion for Berlin's history and in depth knowledge of events leading up to, and beyond the downfall of the Nazis, makes for a jaw dropping realisation of the seismic changes which has shaped our world today. He also instils in you a profound desire... More

What a great day. Fascinating facts with our wonderful guide Mike. A great way to learn about the modern history of Berlin, a truly amazing city. Would recommend Insider Tours as the best way to introduce yourself to the wonders of Berlin.

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
