The tour we took met at the Hackerscker Market train station, and we were greeted by our tour guide Walid, who was an absolute gentleman, and told the group how he got came to live in Berlin (originally from London), and how long the tour would take. He took us around all the major tourist attractions from the museum island,... More

This is the third tour I have done with Insider Tours and they keep getting better. I did the Third Reich tour with JJ and the Potsdam tour with Nickoli. Both were excellent guides and you came away with so much information. It was never boring and I would highly recommend this company because of the excellant guides.

Maria, was our tour guide. She had in depth knowledge of the areas that we were going through. I think the best of this tour was it was current to what the city is today. In Berlin it is easy to spend your time on the history, and not know what the city stands for today, and how it moved... More

I went on the Berlin Today tour with Nikolai on Friday last week and it was absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend this highly enough. I was already booked to do a more traditional 'highlights' tour and wanted to see something or the real city and experience how people live there today. This tour was perfect for that. Our guide was... More

Our tour guide of the Sachsenhausen concentration camp was Brian Bell. He was such a great guide, and shared so much information during the tour. I felt like I learned a lot, and was pleased that Brian always tried to cater the tour to whoever was taking it, and always encouraging us to ask questions. This tour is a great... More

We visit Berlin regularly during the summers, but are not fluent German speakers. Insider Tours has helped us learn more about this city, enjoy and understand what we see, and feel more fully connected, as opposed to ships passing in the night. The tour guides are knowledgeable, personable, courteous, funny, and in love with the city themselves. We've taken 2... More

I took the Sachsenhausen tour with Taylor. I have taken tours worldwide and this one rates highly. Easy to find start location, where you can get snacks (get bitesize snacks to nibble on as you walk, as no actual lunch break). Tour left on time, and Taylor told us the itinerary and when toilet stops would be and then helpfully... More

I've been on many guided tours around Berlin and other places around the world, and I know that an excellent tour is made by an excellent guide. Brian loves Berlin and it shows throughout his stories about the city and its past, and inevitably you fall in love with the city, too. Brian is a professional actor and an excellent... More

If you are interested in the history of Berlin during the Third Reich; the rise of the Nazis; the German Resistance; and the fall of Berlin to the Russians: then this is a tour for you. You will learn from this tour even if you consider yourself already steeped in the history. And you will see where exactly some of... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
