Cheeky boogie

A very cool Berlin experience to go and have a drink while watching people have a ballroom dance. We even gave it a go ourselves but hung around the middle of the d-floor so we... read more

My parents had told me about the Ballhaus previously; it was such a good time for people of absolutely any age (i'm an 18 year old student and I was boogieing down with people MUCH older than me!). The drinks were great - they have their own drink, Sekt, which was like Prosecco but cheaper! I had the best time... More

A very cool Berlin experience to go and have a drink while watching people have a ballroom dance. We even gave it a go ourselves but hung around the middle of the d-floor so we didn't get in the way of the pro's. We got there after 9pm and there were no tables left so get in early if you... More

Nice place for dinner (always good German food) and dancing Berlin's style. You need to reserve a table.

As others have said some of the food was pricey but they were big portions. Pizza was more reasonable and huge and tasty! Enjoyed watching the dancing. One of us even had a go! Really enjoyed our night here. Easy walk from underground.

If you have time for a fabulous night out in Berlin, make sure you visit Clarchen's Ballhaus. This place is fabulous and from the moment you walk in, you absolutely feel like joining the crowd on the dancefloor. The food is good, drinks are ok but the atmosphere is unbelievable. We enjoyed our visit from start till late hours.

V slow service for cold food - 1hr+ wait for cold pre-made meatballs. Bit of a shame for a nice weekend lunch.

Great venue, quirky concept with the mix of music and people dancing to everything from old school ballroom to Latino style and disco! Lovely outside areas, though as it was raining, we headed inside It was a Sunday afternoon, so not too busy yet all the decent tables were reserved (and empty) so we had to sit by the toilets... This is a place with a past. On Auguststrasse it was a dance house in the early twentieth century and the original decor still exists. The front of the building was destroyed during the last days of WW2 in the bombing of Berlin. Now this area is a wonderful outdoor eatery. Or you can dine inside and enjoy dancing to... More

My better half and I recently went to Berlin and happened upon this venue on a whim, we took our own seats and got our own menus because all of the wait staff were busy. We ordered the Guinea fowl to share and it was DELIGHTFUL! Cannot fault the food that this place serves at all! Definitely going to eat... More

We happened upon this restaurant and we were delighted with the beer garden vibe. Dishes were varied, and generous. The water buffalo meatballs, Wiener schnitzel, and steak were all well prepared and accompanied with tasty side dishes.

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
