I brought a group of Australian high school students to Berlin and we enjoyed two outings with OBW - one a walking tour through the heart of the city, and the other a tour through Sachsenhausen concentration camp in Oranienburg. We did both of these with Lorna, whose deep knowledge, sense of humour and warm personality kept the students interested... More

The walking tour with Jonathan was incredibly informative and fun - in spite of the biting cold. Thanks Jonathan for a great overview of Berlin :)

thanks ever so much for your review, we’re glad to hear that you had a great time in Berlin! We’d just like to make sure all of our customers know that we don’t offer “free” tours of Berlin, but do offer very high quality paid tours that can be booked through our website. Best, Lars More

An excellent tour that gave a good overview of the history of germany, berlin and the key sites. The tour is extensive and goes for 4 hrs with a quick pitstop. Our tour guide was Beth who had degrees in german history and was clearly very knowledgable. I would definitely recommend this tour.

This was our first trip to Berlin, so we decided to attend the "Discover Berlin" half-day walking tour to get our bearings and learn the history behind Berlin and the role it played in world history. Our guide, Carlos, was very informative and did a great job of keeping us moving (it was pretty cold). We were able to get... More

My wife and I did this free walking tour on our first day in Berlin, and after the three hour walk we felt like we knew a lot more about Berlin, and knew which particular things we would like to back to and explore further. The tour guide (sorry I forgot his name) was excellent, very knowledgeable and funny. Would... More

Kevin (Englishman) lead the tour. He was extreemly knowledgeable about Berlin and Germany's history. His enthusiasm was amazing. It was cold and rainy but it did not seem to phase him. I cannot recommend him enough! Thank you KEVIN! JB & Reina (visitors from California)

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
