It's an interesting trip around the warehouse district of Hamburg, including travelling through the locks. And a great way to see the city from a different angle. However, the tour presentation is in German only. The audio guide for non-German speakers has commentary on some (but not a lot) of the things you pass, based on your position - so... More

We had high expectations before the (2 hour)tour, but became quiet dissapointed when we realized that the guide only spoke german. The trip felt very long and 1 hour would have been more than enough..

We were told by the concierge at our hotel the cruise catered for English speaking tourists.Wish I had read some Trip Advisor reviews. The same as the others we were greeted in English and handed a handset over the 2 hours we had maybe 12 minutes of commentary. We felt totally ripped off, the Germans loved it.

Went there and asked for the tickets in English to the driver of the cabrio cruise. He answered to me in English after he charged me 15€ but didn't find useful to tell me it was only in German. If I knew I wouldn't have been on board of course. Feel a bit robed. The lake itself is nice but... More

Went with my wife on a two hour boat trip and we were both quite surprised that the guide only spoke German. The trip itself was nice and relaxing (except for the young kid who was very bored) and if you need to see something else than shops and the city center of Hamburg you should try it out. Should... I was tempted to rate it with 3 stars because I honestly have no clue what the guide was talking about - and interestingly, the person who sold cruise tickets didn't state that the guide will be conducted in german even though I am clearly non-german speaking. Anyway. Nevertheless, I still rate it with 4 merely because of the atmosphere,... More

As a Hamburg native I have taken the longer canal cruise now three times when friends and family has visited. The cruises would have been pleasurable were it not for a repeating pattern: The guide is the essential element. It is likely (two times out of three) that the guide only speaks German. Moreover, on our last cruise we noticed... More

Booked the Kanalfahrt (Canal Cruise) with Alster Touristik and had a great cruise on the Alster Lake and the connecting canals. Saw a lot of important buildings as well as the beautiful houses along the canals. Thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, but it could have been better if the tour was also guided in English as I am not a German... More

We cruised in a charming old steam boat, saw the picturesque scenery and heard interesting stories told by the captain (only in German, though).

Sadly, there's no longer any regular commuter traffic on the Alster (Hamburg's central lake), but ATG Alster-Touristik offer a choice of trips on the Alster and its connecting canals, under the heading "Alster Schippern". They all leave from the boat moorings on the Inner Alster parallel to the Jungfernstieg in the centre of town . We chose the "Fleetfahrt", which... More
