About
Grippers, bales of rubber, coffee-sacks, sampling implements: The Speicherstadtmuseum is located on the ground floor of a red-brick warehouse that is over a 120 years old (in the authentic surroundings of the dockland warehouse district in the former free-port). Here typical goods and tools collected from traditional warehouse companies and business premises of the warehouse district are exhibited. Historical photos and maps/plans illustrate the changes of over a century in this worldwide unique historical monument. Further topics are: coffee- and tea-trading as well as lighter-boating (supplying the warehouses with goods by transport on cargo barges). The engaging and interactive exhibition emphasises the skills and ingenuity of the work of warehousemen.

This compact museum explores the history of the mighty warehouses and all of the different goods that passed through them. The importing and processing of the coffee beans was really interesting. Learning about the quality control and how they dealt with customs was also fascinating. While most of the displays are in German, an iPad is provided for English speakers, which is fantastic.
The inclusion of a little coffee shop right in the middle of the museum was wonderful and had a great atmosphere. One of the nicest hot chocolates I've had in a while.

I’m glad it was only €4 per adult but a free coffee/tea should have been part of the price. It took about 10 mins to walk around. I expected to see a warehouse displaying items used during the days the warehouses were in use in the 1900s. It turned out to be just a room in a warehouse. Underwhelming to say the least.

this museum though small is 100% worth the visit. it was hard to find, the map suggested it was across the road from the Martime museum but was in fact much further along behind the minitur world and Hamburg dungeons. it has information both in English and German on the work and history that went on in this area.

Serves a very interesting and useful introduction to the area and the history of Hamburg. It's compact and has lots of cool artefacts.
English translation is available through an app on a provided tablet which is very functional but can be a bit clunky. Worth visiting for the price!

So this is a fairly small museum, but it was not Expensive to enter, and there was a interesting selection of working men's tools from the warehoused district of Hamburg
A lot of it was coffee based and they have a café and run tasting sessions which I didn't stay for, there is some English translations of the material but not all
On the whole I enjoyed it

Stumbled upon this interesting museum which honours the history of this warehouse dock area. There is limited English translation but it's worth looking at the video and the displays. There is also a small coffee shop with tasty filter coffee. . Allow approx one hour and its worth the 4 Euro entry.

I would not call it a museum but it provides intersting facts about the warehose quarter and the history. No information in english available, which is not right for a museum at this place in an international city. 4€ entrance is possibly a bit a waste if you do not understand German and visit the "room" for 10 minutes... There is some coffee and cake you can buy.. a small Cafe in fact... looks nice but I did not try.

If visiting Speicherstadt and the the Miniature world make sure you stop at this small museum to learn about the history of the area. The fee is low and the exhibits are great. This museum gives you the opportunity to learn about the unique area and how it developed in the mid 1800's as well as the importance of coffee trade to Hamburg, Gotta love small museums!
