Having driven around and hiked around the area a couple of days, I can say that getting to Burg Rheinfels (2 minutes outside St. Goar) and walking around it are very easy. And the view from the top gives a spectacular view of the Rhine...More

What a great place for kids to explore (and the young at heart!). Bring a flashlight for the tunnels and explore to your heart's content!

A visit to the castleruins is very nice, great views of the river Rhine too. There is a hotel, restaurant with terrace too. Also from the terrace splendid views of the town and river below. They serve lovely food. Try the traditional "Flammkuchen" A very very...More

I've been to Burg Rheinfels about 5 times and each time was a new experience - there was always something I had missed before. The Castle sits high atop the hill and it's a nice hike up, or drive if you're lazy like myself. The...More

Beautiful views over the Rhine and incredible history. Mostly ruined now but part of the castle has been transformed into a luxury hotel. Highly recommend exploring the mine tunnels with a torch: very exciting adventure.

An interesting place to visit. We climbed up by foot from the town center in about 15 minutes despite being middle aged and in hot weather. The castle itself is fairly large, and one should plan on spending about 90 minutes on site to see...More

This ruin is different from many in Germany. For a small entrance fee you can explore the castle on your own. Bring a flashlight and watch your head in the tunnels as you roam around a really big castle ruin. This is a favorite stop...More

I have visited several castles in Germany, each one is different in many ways. Burg Rheinfels high point is that you get to explore the huges castle ruins on your own, you don;t need a tour guide, you go at your own pace and stay...More

This was an awesome place to explore for both kids and adults. There are underground mining tunnels (that require a flashlight or cell phone light), and lots of different arches and stairways. A great view of the Rhine River as well. We spent three hours...More

We loved our visit to the Burg Rheinfels castle. It's a castle ruin rather than a furnished castle. However, you really get to walk around in the ruins and go in the tunnels that are still standing. Great views of the river and the town.
