Destroyed by Allied bombing in 1944, Frankfurt's beautifully reconstructed opera house was reopened in 1981. It's now a major venue for concerts and operas.

This is at the end of the Fressgass and a great photo opportunity. It is especially pretty at night time.

It is amazing that the old opera house isn't really old but a relatively new rebuilt version. However the facade is amazing and worth a visit.

When visiting Frankfurt, this is one of the place, you must see! Very easily accessible by walk or underground! The distances in the centre of Frankfurt are good for walking.

Nice location and the restaurant is a good option for lunch for who is walking around that area. Beautiful paintings on the walls and ceiling.

This is the classic old Frankfurt Opera House that's now a very special concert hall. Built in 1880, it was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt, opening again in 1981! Over its entrance is written TRUTH BEAUTY and the GOOD! These are virtues of Frankfurt until...More

A very beautiful old building just underneath the enormous modern buildings of Frankfurt. Love the contrast of old with modern.

The Opera house is quite pretty on the outside and definitely stands out from a very modern Frankfurt architecture. I am looking forward to see it from the inside as well.

Hi John I see others have answered. I thought I saw some publicity about it while I was in Frankfurt. Sounds like it will be a wonderful few days. Have fun and safe travels.

Loraine, which concert are you going to? At least there is a "Abendkasse" which opens 1 hour before each concert where you can purchase last minute tickets. Should be possible to deposit already paid tickets there as well... More

Hi! If the concert is inside the opera, then I would definitely recommend wearing something chic. Not necessarily a tie, but a shirt and blazer will do! Hope I could help. Have fun at the concert!
