History of the rebuilding of the Tower

There are photos and a lot of information on the rebuilding of the church, (destroyed late 1944) and further work on the tower. Also information on the history of the church.

Can fit this in as part of a day visiting the Benedictine Abbey. Lot of walking involved but it is beautiful area with vineyards everywhere. Try to hang around to go in outside of a time when a cruise group arrive as they are huge groups and noisy and can maybe ruin the atmosphere for you.

St Hildegard's final resting place, very beautiful and peaceful. Easy to find in Rudesheim and parking in the church car park.

This is a gorgeous, small, local church near the cloister, which is equally lovely. You can drive easily or even hike to it. Hildegard is intrinsic to this area and we loved visiting several sites dedicated to her.

This church represents the solemnness and dignifiedness of Germany’s historical religious architecture by its typical structure and quiet environment. What impressed me... More

This makes for an interesting stop in Rudesheim. Try to learn a little about Hildegard before you go and it will make the whole experience mean more.

Located in the hamlet Eibingen. Lots of visitors by bus for the pilgrimage. We waited untill these left the compound. Today the parish and pilgrimage church St. Hildegard stands on the foundations of the original convent established by Hildegard from Bingen in 1165, reconstructed after a fire between 1932 and 1935 cosidering older stylistic elements. In the church the remains... More
