This Gazebo/Temple with an English landscape park has one of the best views of Niederwald.

This temple was built in 1790.

The original temple was destroyed in the Second World War but was rebuilt.

Drive up, or take the Luftseilbahn from Rüdesheim up to the monument. Looking at it from the Rhein I personally don't find the monument all that impressive, but once up there, its like a Wow. It's super huge and impressive, and the view is terriffic. From down below you have no idea as to what you can see from up there. It's a lot higher than you think. It's decieving.

The area is very beautiful with the Rudesheim's National Monument uphill. You can have fantastic views over the vineyards along Rhein on the top. Access to the top can either by cable car or just walking. Recommended.

Rudesheim's National Monument is impressive and a must see. It's a short walk from the cable car at the top of the hill. From there, you'll get very nice, scenic views of the town and Rhine River.

Free to visit the monument (cable car costs money, of course.) I did not see any bathrooms nearby so beware.

The views across Ruedesheim and the Rhiene valley from the area around the hugh monument to Germany's victory in the Franco/Prussian war are wonderful. This is a very popular area with good walks through the woods along well maked and wide paths. Numerious groups of family or friends where there when we visited and ages ranged from toddlers to grandparents.

There is a new restaurant and drinks area which we did not use, but it seemed very popular.

Many people appeared to be like us and take the round trip which is on offer. This involves the Seilbahns in Ruedsheim and Assmannshausen to get up and down the hill, a walk between the two through the woods using one of the many paths and then a boat trip back to the starting point.

At the top of the chair-lift from Rüdesheim lies the Alderwarte Niederwald, a forested area wit a falconry (including both falcons and eagles), various forest walks, a grandiose monument to the Unification (or Prussification - take your pick) of Germany and a few restaurants with superb views. It's well worth the little trip up by car, or best of all, by chair-lift.

The parkland offers some amazing views over the river valley. The area is well maintained and easy to walk around. The monument is impressive, and there is a cafe close by.

We took a coach ride up to the Ruedesheim and the ride took a long time but the scenery was worth the trip. Then we arrived and the views were even more spectacular. There were many tourists but it wasn't obnoxious. The river and the valley below were stunning and the monument was the icing on the cake!
