See for miles on a sunny day
Amazing views over the Rhine Valley and way into the distance on the very sunny day we rode the gondola. Views of the Rüdesheim vineyards and workers are excellent. The monument Germania is well worth the trip. The gondolas are basic but the ride is fun.

    Lovely views and very peaceful
Well worth a visit, this gives great views over the town, the vineyards below and down the river. Each chair lift is quite small, just two people sat opposite each other but that means uninterrupted views from both sides. The only downside really was the queue at the lower station to get on, it snaked down the stairs, across the pavement and up the road, so you may want to time it for quieter times. You can queue for tickets, or just buy them from one of the machines as we did.

    O'er the vines we go
Nice ride over the vinyards to the hill where the monument is. Good views of the Rhine on the way as well as when at the top. This time we went up and back on the Seilbahn. Previously we went up on the Seilbahn and then walked across to the sessellift (ski type chairlift ) down to Assmannhausen. If you have the time and energy then I think that is the prefered route, although you do have to either catch the train or a boat back to the start pr cpmtinue on to the north.

    Good for the views
Worth going up the Gondola for the views, there is a statue at the top with a bit of history attached but the views make the trip up worth while. Rudesheim another quiant little town nestled amongst the vineyards. There is a cafe/restaurant up the top if you don't stop there probably 1/2 hour at the top is enough. Toilet cost 1 euro.

    Really fun activity
I don't care what Rick Steves says. I've always liked Rudesheim, and this is one of the reasons. The ride back and forth is just gorgeous over the vines. It's a long ride too; plenty of photo ops. At the top, there is hiking, a big monument to German unity, and a couple of restaurants. I suggest skipping the really touristy place at the top, and make an effort to get down the stairs near the gazebo. Better food and very nice staff.

Cable car ride to Germania statue
Charming older cable car for two passengers takes you to Germania statue. Easy walk at top of the hill with signage in German and English. We had a local guide that provided good commentary.

A must do, unless your afraid of heights
The ride up in the gondola is one of the highlights of any visit to Rüdesheim. The ride is smooth and slow and gives plenty of opportunities for photos. At the top is a small café and the Niederwald Monument and there are magnificent views of the Rhine valley. For the energetic you can walk back down to the town but with limited time we went back on the gondola.

A great way to see the landscape. Cheap and fun activity. Beautiful view of the River, town and vineyards. There is a memorial statue at the top and a cafe as well.

Wonderful experience! To glide through the beautiful landscape with all the vinyards, amazing!
We started in Assmanhausen. Ended with the little cruise on the Rhine.

The tram runs through beautiful vineyards and has a spectacular view of the Rhine Valley. The top is the tram is the monument celebrating the unification of German following the Prussian - French was in the 1870s.

This was our first stop on a lovely Rhine Cruise. And although the weather was a bit dank and cold ( it was December after all) we enjoyed the limited views from the cable car and the warming brandy coffee in the village below.
