I was invited by my Friend to have dinner at his place during my trip to Germany. I have heard about Bonn as it is Beethoven's birthplace and was excited to visit it. The trip was as promised beautiful, nice and historical. My friends showed me houses that are well preserved and over 100 years with high ceiling and artistic... More

Made a rookie mistake and went to visit the gardens without checking the website! It is closed on Saturdays 😕 I should have checked first. But I walked the circumference and it looked pretty good from the outside. The Popplesdorf palace is a stunning back drop to the gardens. It's a shame I never actually managed to see the inside... The garden is not properly maintained and boring. The conservatory opens at 14:00 not open from 10:00 - 18:00!

Only had a short period of time to look round & spent most of it in the tropical greenhouse. It was fascinating & I loved it, especially the huge friendly lizard (I called him Bob). If in the area will definitely be back to have a longer look round the gardens.

The botanical gardens are well worth a visit at any time of the year. I prefer spring or summer when the flowers are in bloom, the beds are well tended and people are sitting around reading or even enjoying a picnic. Sometimes there are special art installations and the "Glashaus" is beautiful. A great place to relax and see a... More

A beautiful park full of fascinating, rare flowers and trees, some of the latter huge and ancient. In addition, which is a special treat in winter (which sadly lasts about 10 months of the year in Germany), you can visit the tropical greenhouse full of exotic plants you don't usually get to see in this freezing climate, including the gigantic... The botanical garden is a pretty place in Bonn! With a big collection of different plants and flowers. The 'Glashaus' is spectacular. :)

The Botanic Gardens are part of the Bonn University and are one of the most beautiful and prestigious gardens in Germany. Top attraction is the Amorphophallus titanum, a plant coming from Southeast Asia and blooming only every 10 years. Guided tour is recommended.

It is built around the baroque castle of Poppelsdorf, beautiful garden with old trees, and biologically interesting.
