I figured this would be a small zoo since it's in town, it's not. They have a great selection of animals. I really loved the very old buildings. The local soccer team's mascot lives here so that was fun. The Elephant exhibit is the best i have seen. I loved the signage about the animals. They have the animals picture... More

It's a difficult one....it's good to see the wide range of animals at this zoo but sad to see them in captivity. Some of the enclosures are pretty small and tired but then when it's in the middle of a city what else can you expect with restricted space!? Would I recommend going yes and no, yes if you're never... More

This zoo is not the biggest, but it is well laid out and has some very nice animal houses incl. the "Hippodom" (with hippos) and a huge outdoor and indoor elephant (Asian elephant) display with an entire family and offspring - a great place for a break after shopping and museum visits

Absolutely great zoo! Very educational, loads of interesting animals that do give the feeling of being treated kindly and well. The entrance fee is not cheap, but worth the experience indeed. If you go with children, there is also a big playground.

We have been to many zoos! But I have to say that Köelner zoo is one of the nicest. Easy to find, only 4 tube stops from Cologne main station. Entrance was €19.50 per adult, but also includes entrance to the aquarium. The enclosures are large and clean with good views of the animals. The zoo paths are well signed... More

Went to the Zoo on a Saturday and unsurprisingly it was quite busy, but it was never a struggle to be able to look into an enclosure as of crowds, it was only ever like this when the animal feeding times where but in this case i just moved along and went back later . The zoo seems to have... More

The Köln zoo is ver y well planned, neat and most importantly does not smell. best to visit in summer to see the lovely bird show. they could improve in terms of the refreshments available. The aquarium and the insect section is an extra that is difficult to fit in after an engaging day at the zoo.
